January 4, 201214 yr Hi, After first having fixed my d3d9.dll crashes by removing ENB Series. the G3D.dll crashes appeared. I think I fixed it now by installing FS UIPC 4.751a. But as you know, there is ALWAYS something wrong with FSX.And yes, today, a new crash arrived, API.dll. After having searched a little on the forum, I read that Ryan said that it could be due to some kind of system instability, CPU or GPU overheating, bad RAM, or badly installed drivers.Well, I suspect a few things. Firstly, I have just installed the NVIDIA 290.xx BETA drivers. I would like to know which drivers are the best for FSX? Also, I have a bad GPU, which overheats easily to around 75 C when playing FSX. Could it be caused by that? My RAM was cheap, but it scored well on some sites. So I dunno if it's good or not. Any suggestions? It has been set to 1.5V, but not sure if that's the correct setting, because it doesn't say anything about the voltage on the boxing. I just set the value that was already set in my BIOS, 1.5V. I didn't overclock it, I simply left it at 1600 MHz and 1.5V. I only overclocked my CPU to 4.5 GHz, 1.35V, and I did all three Prime95 tests for 12 hours with no problems. So that must be stable for sure.Any suggestions about the recommended NVIDIA drivers? And how do I correctly uninstall NVIDIA drivers? I simply go to Add/Remove programms, and then remove the NVIDIA Graphics driver. Then I restart myu pc and run Driver Sweeper. I then tick NVIDIA Chipset, NVIDIA Display, and NVIDIA Physx. Then I click "Clean". Then I restart again and install the other driver. Is this the correct way? Arjen Vandervelde
January 4, 201214 yr I'm still trying to figure out what a GTX 320 is! (check your signature) What are you really running?Use the latest official drivers for you card either way. NOT beta drivers.Because a GPU gets hot doesn't mean it's "bad". How's case airflow? Is it overclocked? What AA settings are you using? Also, I've crossed no problems installing newer Nvidia drivers on top of older ones. It works just fine. January 4, 201214 yr Author I'm still trying to figure out what a GTX 320 is!Use the latest drivers for you card. That's my graphics card. Sapphire NVIDIA GTX 320 1024 MB. The NVIDIA 300 series are made for OEM pc's. This card comes from my old Acer desktop pc. But after building my own new custom pc, and still didn't have any money for a good GPU, I put this one in it. The latest drivers are 285.26, but I've had problems with it, and so I did other people. So which one do you recommend other than 285.26, and what is the correct way to remove an NVIDIA driver? Arjen Vandervelde
January 4, 201214 yr Gotcha. the "GT" 320. Sorry, I'm slow! What issues are you having that are exclusive to the new drivers? the 185(??) drivers seemed to like FSX.EDIT: Yes, the 185s did well. January 4, 201214 yr Well, if you read my original post again, it's all explained in there. :) My problem is the API.dll crash, which is (according to what Ryan said), caused by overheating graphics card, or bad driver install. But is is only happening with the newer driver? I did read the original post. You insinuated you were having problem(s) in post #3. I figured there was more going on!Anyway, I think I answered the OP in post #4. That driver used to be my "go to". Because 185 sound very old to me!And if you're intending to help me, read the original post otherwise you can't help someone. Arjen Vandervelde
January 4, 201214 yr No. I mean the 185/186/187 drivers! And yes, they are old! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
January 4, 201214 yr Author No. I mean the 185/186/187 drivers! And yes, they are old!Alright, that drivers are so old (early 2010), that I can't even find them anymore on the NVIDIA website. The oldest drivers that I can't find are the 197 drivers. But, I'm not saying that my API.dll crashes (which I'm sometimes getting but not very frequently) are due to my drivers. There are several things that I "suspect" that could be causing it. But before making any significant changes to pc or FSX, I thought, let's ask it first. Well this is what I suspect:The version of my NVIDIA driversBadly installed NVIDIA driversMy graphics card (which is a bad one, comparable to the GT215)The overheating of my graphics card (75C)Infact, I don't know what the cause is exactly. I hope someone knows the answer to my question. Arjen Vandervelde

January 5, 201214 yr Author Im running the new BETA drivers, with this BEAUTIFUL Nvidia enhancer fps limiterFSX has never ran so smoothI've been running those drivers too for a few days. Until, I suddenly got an error from NVIDIA that there's a problem with an OpenGL driver and it has to close or something. On my next flight I got an API.dll crash just after takeoff. I suspect those new beta drivers are the problem. But I"m not sure as there are also other problem with my graphics card. It's quite a bad one and gets a little hot also. Arjen Vandervelde

January 6, 201214 yr Commercial Member No problems here with the latest betas that came out for BF3 and Skyrim.I've said it before but the idea that there's a difference in FSX between current driver versions is dubious at best. I'm positive they haven't touched anything relating to the sim in many years now - all the stuff in the newer sets are optimizing for specific new games. January 6, 201214 yr Framerate lock is relevant for fsx though. Im still using an external limiter. Are many using the nvidia one and is it working for you? I thought another thread recommended sticking with the 'standard' limiter.
