Carenado Seneca panel light

Featured Replies

Hi.Just rattling this off during my lunch break so please accept my apologies if it's not too clear...The panel lights switch in my Carenado PA-34 doesn't work. From scratch the switch simply has no effect. If I use the key command for 'All lights on' I get a very soothing red interior illumination (along, obviously, with all the other lights). The panel light switch will then turn the interior light off, but not back on again. To re-illuminate the interior I have again to switch 'All lights' back on, then individually turn off those I don't wish to use.The same thing happens with any other lights gauge I install in a separate panel.cfg window so I suppose it's not the switch itself that's at fault.Has anyone else encountered this problem and can you suggest what the source of the fault might be?Kind regards,D

Up on the ceiling there's a black knob near the dome light that toggles the red cabin light. Carenado makes use of a lesser known light type defined as "cabin light" rather that "VC light" for the interior illumination, this is "type 10" in the acft.cfg which explains why the generic light gauges you tried didn't have any effect.Jim

If you find the light too "soothing", you can change the color in the filefx_vclightpa34.fx in the FSX Effects folder.I changed the color as follows:

[ParticleAttributes.0]Blend Mode=2Texture=fx_2.bmpBounce=0.00//Color Start=95, 0, 0//Color End=95, 0, 0Color Start=120,[img=http://forum.avsim.net/public/style_emoticons/default/mega_shok.gif],[img=http://forum.avsim.net/public/style_emoticons/default/mega_shok.gif]Color End=120,[img=http://forum.avsim.net/public/style_emoticons/default/mega_shok.gif],[img=http://forum.avsim.net/public/style_emoticons/default/mega_shok.gif]

Actually there's a red and a white effect associated with that switch, fx_vclightpa342 and fx_vclightpa34. The fx_vclightpa342 one is white, fx_vclightpa34 is the red one. I personally don't care for the reddish cast (yes I know why cockpit lights are red) so by adding a "2" to the "fx_vclightpa34" callout I now have a neutral white light rather than red.Jim

Hi.Thank you both; this had been quite a frustration. I haven't been using the Seneca for long, and have only just started flying it at night.I shall try the overhead switch tonight, and probably attempt to improve the colour too. I sort of like it but it's so womb-like I'm in danger of falling asleep at the yoke.Kind regards,D
