February 24, 200422 yr I don't get it. I update all my drivers regularly. Up until now-I had gotten good performance in fs by turning down autogen and ai traffic-turn them up with some real weather-great visuals at the expense of stutters.I downloaded a few days ago the latest via 4 n 1 drivers (Hyperon Feb http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=705) which I have updated probably 5 times since getting my latest computer 1- 1/2 years ago.Suddenly nirvana!-Autogen and ai traffic turned up-no stutters-gauge movement smooth as silk like xplane. I have never seen a difference with new drivers like this!Bizzare but I am not complaining-a new sim! February 24, 200422 yr That sounds suspiciously like the performance boost I got in FS2002 by updating my AGP miniport drivers to get actual AGP speeds out of my old GeForce 3 card. Perhaps your AGP hadn't been enabled until this rev of the 4-in-1s. What matters is that now it works! Congrats!
February 24, 200422 yr Thanks for the heads up! I installed the new drivers, but did not notice any big difference - I guess my system's performance is quite good for what I paid anyway ;)One thing I DID notice is that the default Cessna 172 has extremely smooth gauges in the virtual cockpit! I normally don't fly the default FS9 planes because I have so many wonderful and detailed addons installed. But this time I just started the default flight (Cessna 172, KSEA, nice weather with some clouds), and I was AMAZED but the fluidity of the gauges, especially the VSI. I first thought that was the effect of the new drivers, but then I loaded up some other planes, and their VC gauges were as sluggish as I remembered them ;)Anyway, never hurts to install current drivers.VOlker :]
February 24, 200422 yr Im a little confused. I have a brand new motherboard that has Via drivers. I just checked them and they are Via Standard drivers version 5.1. These new "Hyperion" drivers are version 4.51. Whats the difference? Eric AND
February 24, 200422 yr Not for me. I upgraded to these VIA 4-in-1's and my stutters came back!So I did a system restore back to the original VIA drivers that are installed by Windows XP and no problems. It just goes to show that every system is different. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.Happy Simming!ScottATP/CFII - KCOS, in the real aviation world.
