P-Factor?

Featured Replies

Hi All,New to Carenado aircraft. But when I saw a Malibu JetPROP in full HD just couldn't resist! So far very impressed with it, apart from a couple of minor problems. The main on being keeping the darn wings level! At first I thought it may be P-Factor, but now I'm thinking that it's fuel balancing. As soon as there is more then a 3 - 4 gal imbalance it seems to want to roll the aircraft to the direction of the heavier wing. And I can't seem to find a way to stop it, other than changing tanks every 2 minutes, which to me feels a little unrealistic!I've flown other (admittedly smaller, lighter, and with much less fuel!!) aircraft in real life, and rarely feel this 'heavy wing' tendency quite as much, unless the imbalance is severe.Anything you lot can suggest? Many thanks,Sev

Two options I can think of:1. Do not touch the fuel setting, initially it is set to "both" - leave it there2. Use the autopilot more, it will keep the wings level for you - switch tanks every 15 min as in real life..

Bert,Many thanks for your advice, however I'm trying to fly the aircraft hands-on, and also adhering to RW practices - The initial setting is actually off, as it is in the RW plane. As far as I'm aware the reason that when not touched it drains from both tanks is because there is a bug in the software. In the real aircraft, I've been a passenger once as as far as I remember there was no 'both' setting. Could be wrong however. Many thanks,Sev

The "both" in the initial off position is a FSX default. Simmers who take off, get to altitude and then let it fly while they do other RW chores use this. Then they can return at the appropriate time and land. Once you move it to L or R tank, OFF means off.

Indeed, however was it intentionally left to work that way by Carenado? And is there any solution to having the wings dropping all the time other than using the selector in the "both" position - Are the fuel usage figures still correct if using this position? Would still rather fly ritualisticly...

Usage is correct in the off position as well.If you use the L & R tank separately, use a bit of rudder trim to keep the wing from dropping, or to be more precise, the heading from wandering. That's they way I do it IRL.Just tried, with approx 6 clicks of rudder trim you can correct an imbalance of 10USG.

Excellent, many thanks bstolle, I'll do it this way from now on and see how I go. Never really feel comfortable in using a glitch to get around a problem. Much prefer realism!James
