Electric tug wheel problem

Recommended Posts

PA46TTUGPROBLEM.jpgIs there a way to adjust the height of the wheel on the electric tug to get it out of the ground? Right now it looks like it has a flat tire.

I think that if I raise the contact point of the nose wheel high enough to raise the tug wheel to where it looks correct, the nose wheel will be off the ground. What I was wondering is the tug wheel position effected by the nose wheel contact point position?

I fixed the height of the tug's wheel by slightly changing the height of the nose wheel in the aircraft cfg. If you have this problem, here is what you need to change.#1) Make a backup copy of your aircraft cfg first just in case!#2) in the contact points section of the cfg, change the one contact point in bold below from the default -4.33 to the new height of -4.37. This will raise the nose wheel to pull the tug's wheel out of the ground with making the nose wheel appear too high. Note that the two small roller wheels on the tug now are flat on the ground.[contact_points]static_pitch = 0static_cg_height = 4.20max_number_of_points = 9 point.0 = 1, 6.6, 0.0, -4.37, 2000, 0, 0.59, 25.0, 0.32, 1.25, 0.9, 4.5, 6.5, 0, 135.0, 137.0point.1 = 1, -1.1, -6.0, -4.63, 2000, 1, 0.72, 0.0, 0.42, 1.20, 0.6, 6.0, 6.8, 2, 135.0, 137.0point.2 = 1, -1.1, 6.0, -4.63, 2000, 2, 0.72, 0.0, 0.42, 1.20, 0.6, 6.0, 5.0, 3, 135.0, 137.0point.3 = 2, -1.0, -20.5, 0.30, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 5, 0, 0point.4 = 2, -1.0, 20.5, 0.30, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 6, 0, 0point.5 = 2, 9, 0, -2.00, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 9, 0, 0point.6 = 2, -4, 0, -2.00, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 4, 0, 0point.7 = 2, -14, 0, -0.40, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 9, 0, 0point.8 = 2, -15, 0, 6.30, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 4, 0, 0gear_system_type=0#3) Save the changes. Now your tug should look like this-tugwheelfix2.jpgI hope this helps if you have this problem.Bill

I did some more tweaking after getting tired of seeing the wheel chocks and traffic cones floating an inch of of the ground. I went back into the contact points and made the following changes. If you change the number in bold to these values. the main gear will be lowered enough to bring the chocks and the cones so that they touch the ground. The nose gear will sit in the right position so that the tire on the tug doesn't look flat either.As always, make a copy of your aircraft.cfg first in case of mistakes.[contact_points]static_pitch = 0static_cg_height = 4.20max_number_of_points = 9 point.0 = 1, 6.6, 0.0, -4.37, 2000, 0, 0.59, 25.0, 0.32, 1.25, 0.9, 4.5, 6.5, 0, 135.0, 137.0point.1 = 1, -1.1, -6.0, -4.61, 2000, 1, 0.72, 0.0, 0.42, 1.20, 0.6, 6.0, 6.8, 2, 135.0, 137.0point.2 = 1, -1.1, 6.0, -4.61, 2000, 2, 0.72, 0.0, 0.42, 1.20, 0.6, 6.0, 5.0, 3, 135.0, 137.0point.3 = 2, -1.0, -20.5, 0.30, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 5, 0, 0point.4 = 2, -1.0, 20.5, 0.30, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 6, 0, 0point.5 = 2, 9, 0, -2.00, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 9, 0, 0point.6 = 2, -4, 0, -2.00, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 4, 0, 0point.7 = 2, -14, 0, -0.40, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 9, 0, 0point.8 = 2, -15, 0, 6.30, 2000, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 4, 0, 0After the changes made above, your chocks should sit on the ground like in these screenshots-fixedchocks1.jpgfixedchock2.jpgBill

MartyB,Thanks. I am glad you like the update. I have noticed that occasionally at some airports the tug still sits low, but for the most part, the tug and the chocks sit properly now.Bill
