Start Flight At Short Ground Turn Panel State.

Featured Replies

On doing some reading, it appears that the common RW flight scenario has the flight crew entering the cockpit a little more set up than "cold and dark". I assume that is why PMDG included a panel state called "Short Ground Turn", to simulate this condition. However, when searching this forum and Googling this subject, i cannot find any Check list or Tutorial that gets you from this condition to airborn. Is there such a thing?Regards,

There´s only one checklist in RW. Do you really rely on those pilot thatleft the ac in that condition. You´ll have to make sure and use all items and checkaccording to the checklist, that everything is fullfilled before start of the ac./ Leffe

Leffe, in his defense, if you look at the JS4100 checklist, they specifically note the things for First Flight of Day and those that may be omitted thereafter. On the whole, I agree with you though.Rick, basically, you should always use the original checklist to confirm every switch is in the right position (reference the Helios thread from the other day). Crews don't always put everything back in the right spot. How many times have you gone to look for the remote in the spot you place it but your roommate (child/wife/mother/whoever else) moved it to some other spot on accident? Same thing here. Some crews are more careful to make sure everything is right for the next crew than others. As I mentioned above, some checklists specifically note items that may be omitted for flights "on the turn," and some don't. Use the same checklist, check the position of everything, and just use a little brainpower in determining where in the checklist they left you.If I recall, the short turn panel state has the IRS spun up and the APU on with the packs on, and the power off the APU, that's it.
