Another EditVoicePack Problem

Featured Replies

When I reinstalled FS9 on my computer (Windows 7 OS) I went to recompile and accelerate EVP and I keep getting an error saying "Cannot created a file when that file already exists." After looking at the EVP Help, I read this: "EditVoicepack won’t start (Microsoft Voicepack damaged)Typically this happens when the voicepack files of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight has been changed by another program than EditVoicepack (like MyTraffic) but it can also happen in a few other situations. Please restore the original file from your Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight CD number 2. The file is inside the file "MSGame4.cab" for the 10 voice setup, and inside the "MSGame5.cab" file for the three voice setup. Copy the file to the Sound directory under the Flight Simulator directory. In case the Sound directory contains files named *.evpOrg or Evp_Accelerated.gvp they should be deleted."When I do restore this file (I'm assuming its just dragging the file from the disk into the Sound folder) I still get the same error. I decided to uninstall FS9 and try again, making sure all FS9 files were gone. Same result. Now I have a ton of aircraft with "Silent" callsigns and I feel like I'm riding the short bus when talking to ATC.What do I need to do in order to get EVP to accelerate and recompile?

Where is FS9 installed to? By default it installs to Program Files (x86 if using Win 7 64), this folder is protected by the OS --- are you sure you're running EVP as admin so it can read/write files in that directory?

Did you also read this part of what you posted?:"In case the Sound directory contains files named *.evpOrg or Evp_Accelerated.gvp they should be deleted."This means any files with those file extensions should be deleted, as well as copying the fresh GVP file.Hope this helps,

Toms on the money. I have had to do this many times ,and it works, It is in the help files of EVP.ps"MSGame4.cab" for the 10 voice setup, and inside the "MSGame5.cab" file for the three voice setup. These I think are the wrong way round I think "MSGame4.cab" =three voiceAnd "MSGame5.cab" =10 voice (If I am incorrect then please ignore my ignorant silly advice. :()DONT FORGET! As Tom said"In case the Sound directory contains files named *.evpOrg or Evp_Accelerated.gvp they should be deleted."And THEN go through the re-compiling business ,and you should be fit to go again.Andy
