February 12, 201214 yr Hi guys,I´ve noticed something very strange with my FSX installation which occupied me the whole weekend: Whenever the FSX UI comes up, the FSX RAM usage is arround 200MB and FSx isn´t really responsive at all (Will stop working if I click on free flight). But I´ve noticed that if I do nothing and just wait some time (5 minutes or so), the FSX RAM usage will steadily increase and finally settle down at about 900MB and FSX will be fully responive (and the click sounds playing). I´ve never encountered this behaviour (And I´m now simming for more than 5 years!). Does someone have noticed similar things? Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
February 12, 201214 yr Try this line.[Main]DisablePreload=1It prevents FSX from loading the default flight in the background, which may be the thing you are seeing. The more scenery you've installed, the longer it takes and the less responsive the interface behaves. If you already have this line, something else may be worth a look though. :(

Thanks, I'll maybe try this one. But as long as FSX works, I can definitely wait some more minutes. :( Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
February 12, 201214 yr I'd give it a try either way. As long as you don't fly the default trike around Friday Harbor every time, loading that flight is a waste of time and resources. If the FTX mode is one, it should also take a bit longer as it then is loading the PNW files. But you are right, not a mandatory tweak.
February 13, 201214 yr SteffenWhen the loading ie 200 and 900 MB occurs - in Task Manager under Performance how much 'available memory' is displayed? Are you running any addon AI Traffic programs? Is this loading a default plane or the NGX?I see you have 4GB RAM it would be interesting to see if an extra 4GB would make a difference.RegardsPeterH

When the UI first come up, I have arround 50% free RAM and after it´s fully loaded (900+ MB) there are arround 20% left, so 80% used.It is loading the default flight but I have PNW since I installed FSX on that rig and I´ve never seen that behaviour before. No Traffic addons on my side execpt of lots of WOAI traffic. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h

It sounds like you just have a lot of add ons.As your FSX installation gets more and more bloated, you'll notice some new things. I know my framerates are not where they started when FSX was fresh. My load times have tripled. And stability is something I've finally achieved this month for my current stable of add-ons. :lol:Also, I think you're spending too much time staring at task manager while simming. Shoot for acceptable FPS and fluidity in your sim with the FPS counter off and the FSX window in full screen. Sometimes us tweakers need to know when to stop tweaking! Sometimes us tweakers need to know when to stop tweaking!Maybe but it happened from one day to another. I tried to starta flight the whole Sunday long but as soon as the UI came up any I tried to change the plane or something else as I allways did, FSX got stuck. That it what anoyed me.Btw. thanks for that DisablePreload tweak, it worked like a charm. FSX came up and I had no problem chnagin the plane immediately without any problem whatsoever. And also a lot less RAM usage now when I´m in the UI. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
