February 13, 201214 yr As long as I've been using computers, flight simulation etc..... you would think I'd know the answer to the following. I am using Carenado products as an example here. I wanted to get clarification on how the shadows during the daytime are achieved in the VC as I see in Carenado's screen shots of their products. 1 - Self shadowing turned on for the AC in settings along with 2 - DX10 preview? If I am correct here, has there been any technology that would allow these shadows that move as the AC does without DX10? I ask because DX10 creates other issues as we all know with the taxiways and such. While I'm at it, wasn't there another way to get rid of that problems as well. Thanks for your input folks. Much appreciated. :)Best, Jeff
February 13, 201214 yr I think the ENBSeries gives the shadows. No, it doesn't.DX10 Preview is the only way to get VC shadows, unfortunately. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
February 13, 201214 yr I believe that's DX10 effects. Interesting though, I also play Railworks and they have beautiful in-cab moving shadows and it's a DX9 game. So the technology is possible with DX9 but it is not implemented in FSX (probably for performance reasons).Randall Edited February 13, 201214 yr by Randall
February 14, 201214 yr Author Thanks gents, I thought DX10 was the answer, but do not use it due to the unwanted side effects. Much appreciated. :)Best, Jeff
February 14, 201214 yr Well, as we can already see in FLIGHT's webisodes, there is a full new shadow system. It also still appears to be running on Directx9.
