February 13, 201214 yr Yes I did post on this on REX2's forum, but the response is not getting to the bottom of it yet, and this has been an annoyance for more than me. If you know the cure outside of a complete uninstall/reinstall, which for some reason takes virtually overnight to complete (not just on my machine), please let me to. It's about the 4th time it's occurred for me.Alternatively, if you can recommend a good weather program. I have Active Sky X and am not too fond of it--really much preferred REX2's, but this is really not a lot of fun to have to try to fix everytime, and in part because of the very lengthy reinstall REX2 requires for me.Thanks in advance,Noel Edited February 13, 201214 yr by Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. February 13, 201214 yr Author Did you enable your Firewall as requested by REXX?Cheers,- jahman.Well, REX2.exe and rexweengine2.exe are both entered as exceptions in the Windows firewall. Is there something else I missed? February 13, 201214 yr Author Hi Noel, sorry about the problem you are having. Did you see Kees latest response in regards?http://www.realenvir...-your-firewall/ Yes, thanks. I'm afraid this is an issue which really, no one has been able to get to the bottom of. I perused many posts occurring over a long period of time and no one has identified the core issue(s). It appears to transcend OS, AV programs, versions of REX2. I think it's doubtful the next release will resolve the issue since as I say no one has really identified exactly what's bringing up this thing for those unfortunate to experience it. What really unfortunate is the only relatively solid fix is the complete uninstall/reinstall, which can take up to 9 hours to effect. That in itself is amazing. What other software do you know of that can take anywhere near that long to process? Bless Kees for offering, we thank him for that. I will go back to use Active Sky or default FSX weather for now, unless someone can get to the bottom of REX2's weather engine issue. If I stumble upon a cure I will for sure share that. Yes, each time I've reinstalled it I ran the executable and it takes basically overnight. I decided to run it at around 3pm today, and it's now 8:20pm and still running. Everything else on my machine runs very well, so I don't know what it could be.Used FEX before I bought REX. I liked the product but prefer REX now. From what Tim says, Essentials cures both the long installation and the firewall alert issue. Thanks! February 14, 201214 yr Author Hi Noel, sorry about the problem you are having. Did you see Kees latest response in regards?http://www.realenvir...-your-firewall/ Tim, I went ahead and uninstalled/reinstalled REX2 so I could get up and running. Jahman mentioned, 'Did you enable your Firewall as requested by REXX?'I didn't read anything about setting up the firewall for REX2. Can you refer me to something to clarify this area? I have installed REX2 again, went thru the initial configuration, and set up weather to load automatically as previously, but I have held off on running FSX. I am wondering if I need to set something in the firewall before I run FSX again, which will now load REX2 weather now that I am reinstalled. February 14, 201214 yr Commercial Member @Noel -Hey I believe you may be ok to go. Make sure that in the configuration manager that you have the Enable Vatsim Weather unchecked. In REX 2 Vatsim weather is not operational, but in REX Essential we have it working perfectly, which we will be releasing VERY soon.If that does not work please email me directly at: [email protected] Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com

If you had a chance to follow the thread and saw Tim's reply re Essentials resolving the firewall in/out issue and prolonged installation on some machines, can you point me to how to prevent another breakdown? VERY soon is . . . very soon! so I guess it would be fine to wait. I REALLY like REX weather and look forward to Essentials.Yes, and I have never had Vatsim checked ;o) Edited February 15, 201214 yr by Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
