February 13, 201214 yr I have a quick question about using Ezdok with my FSX setup.I have 3 screens and run FSX in windowed mode on the centre screen. I then open the Ezdok window and move it across to the left screen. I'm flying using the PMDG 737NGX. The problem I have is that whenever I click on the Ezdok window to change my fsx view to the overhead panel or the radios my fsx sound goes off. I have to click on the fsx window again to enable the sound. I think this would be refered to window focus?Does anyone know of a way to stop this? It makes setting up the aircraft a bit dull. I'd like to be able to keep my cockpitsound when moving from view to view with ezdok. Also keeping the engine sounds whilst using my Aivlasoft EFB on my third screen would be good too....I hope someone can help me....
February 13, 201214 yr Check the FSX config dialog boxes. I seem to recall (not at my simPC right now) that you can set sound to remain on when focus is lost.Cheers,- jahman.
February 13, 201214 yr I don't think you can do it within FSX.You need this excellent free tool, FS-SIMtimizer.http://www.friendlyflusi.at/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=13492It will prevent other applications from stealing focus unless you really want to.Don't be put off by the German language, once installed you can easily switch to English.

Seems a waste of screen space to have one monitor just for switching Ezdok views...? I never have the Ezdok window open apart from when I have a new airplane and want to add views... Using keys and knobs solves the loss of sound problem without having to install even more programs that run in the background.
February 13, 201214 yr Author Thanks guys,I'm resorting to using my 1 thru 9 keys... I can never remember what does what after key 4!I don't have a 2nd screen just for Ezdok. I put my weather prog there, also my fuel planner etc etc.The idea was to use 3 screens in nvidia surround but it grinds to a halt!I'll try FS-SIMtimizer at some point... I tried it before but the full screen trick just made my screens blackand I had to quit fsx to get anything back. Thanks again for the help...
February 13, 201214 yr That's the point of the G13 - you don't have to remember what all the key combinations do if you set it up correctly.I'd also look at off loading some of those programs on to a networked rig. I used to run two screens but I found performance with only one was drastically better. YMMV. I actually unplug my second monitor before flying. My second monitor has a VGA and a DVI input so when it is disconnected from my desktop (DVI), it becomes a clone of my notebook (VGA). I use a KVM switch so I can bounce between the notebook and desktop while flying.
