February 15, 201214 yr Hi Guys,I have been using the Dell 24" 1900 x 1200 monitor. I have ordered two more Dell UltraSharp 2007FP 20-inch Flat Panel monitors. The ht is the same 1200 but the width is a little shorter than the 1900. I got it used and got a good deal on these two monitors so I went for it.So basically the left and the right side monitors are going to be non widescreen and the center is a widescreen monitors. Hopefully I can reduce the problem of fish eye with three 24" widescreen monitors.I know I cannot use Matrox solution since that requires three identical resolution/monitorsSo now, what video card should I look to for this 3 unequal monitor solution?ATI Eyefinity seems to be good for these multimonitor but I understand thats not the best for FSX...Am I right or should I go for the ATI Radeon cards? What nVidea solution is good for this?Any ideas?MannyAll this is in preparation for the ivy Bridge solution that is yet to come. February 15, 201214 yr ATI Eyefinity seems to be good for these multimonitor but I understand thats not the best for FSXThat's not necessariyl tru for the high-end AMD 7xxx cards here that sport a 384-bit wide memory bus (and of course PCIe 3 with 2x the BW of PCIe 2).Cheers,- jahman.
February 15, 201214 yr Have you tried a 7XXX card yet?I have a 6970 2 Gb with 3 monitors, and it´s awesome, WITH CLEAR SKY!!AMD is terrible with clouds, yes, it´s a fact, as NickN has mentioned before, AMD don´t care about old games like FSX.
February 15, 201214 yr Author Hmmmm... And nvidea no matter what, requires two cards for 3 monitors.. even if their single card has three video out, you can only have two moniters I believe.NVidea is not dong good on multiple monitor setupManny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
February 15, 201214 yr Yep, you' re right, both have their problems...I bought "Last Years Top Notch Card" - the Asus HD 6970 Direct CU II 2 GB - clocked it like a madman, awesome, but FSX didn´t care about that!As I mentioned, the performance is outstanding with clouds set to zero or absolute minimum.NOT perfect for a Flightsim... February 15, 201214 yr Author So a reasonable solution is, instead of getting a single top of the line 5xxx or an upcoming 6xxx card, get two of the mid level 5xxx or mid level 6xxx card for a multi monitor setup. That may give me multi monitor setup, but I may lose out on the performance of a single high end video card.Sigh! February 20, 201214 yr I've got an AMD 4870 along with a AMD 1090T with 4GB of mem using three widescreen monitors with a Triplehead2Go and I am getting 15 FPS or so with the PMDG NGX. Yes, I am looking for more but perhaps this is a relative look. Happy landings, Mike Eppright (KAAO)
February 22, 201214 yr Ive got 3 x Asus 24" monitors running off triple head too go. This comes out of 1 of the DVI ports on the GTX 580 graphics cards. I tried connecting a fourth monitor to the graphics card but just get a windows screen. The monitor is about 4 years old so maybe the graphics card doesn like the resolution. I havent tried any new monitors ie:2011,2012 and advice for or just get another triple head to go. Would the graphic card handle 2 triple hed to go set ups. wow 6 monitors. I did read somewhere on avsimabout using a fourth monitor as touch screen (CDU, instumentation) anyone used the touchscreen set upAny advise...........aprreciated Paul Moss- QFA1316 http://postimg.org/gallery/fni0e84k/ http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o49/Mossyfly47/2014-9-8_21-43-11-191_zpsb01b1b0f.png
March 9, 201214 yr running three monitors off triple head to go 23" and fourth monitor out of second output on GTX 580 card as overhead panel Runs fine I have backed off the screen resolution in surround down to 3xxxx by 1xxxx as number right hand side 3rd monitor was loosing quality in resolution, Paul Moss- QFA1316 http://postimg.org/gallery/fni0e84k/ http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o49/Mossyfly47/2014-9-8_21-43-11-191_zpsb01b1b0f.png
March 9, 201214 yr Author IF you are running 3 X 23" monitors on T2Go, then you are not running on those native resolutions ..right? does it look ok by not running those monitors in its native resolution?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
March 10, 201214 yr looks good didn't really change much. Paul Moss- QFA1316 http://postimg.org/gallery/fni0e84k/ http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o49/Mossyfly47/2014-9-8_21-43-11-191_zpsb01b1b0f.png
March 13, 201214 yr Guess I'll chime in.I run 3 monitors using two high end(...at the time of purchase) GTX460 1GB overclocked nvidia cards. However, I do not use TripleHead to go because monitors are different sizes. Left - right are 17" and middle is 24" widescreen. The only thing i have to do is open a new window while running FSX and drag it to the right and left. Position it so I can see my right side and left side and I'm good to good. The reason I decided againts triplehead solution was that it only makes the screen as wide as three monitors so if I had 3 19" at a max resolution of 1280x1024 the widest it will be is 3840X1024. Plus, Nvidia was working on it's own surround technology. From the youtube videos I seen my field of view was limited and with my setup I had a better field of view left/right.Now, if this has changed please let me know, because what I would like to do is put these cards in SLI mode upgrade monitors and try nvidia surround. Again, my only concern is am I going to lose my field of view left/right.With my setup yes, I have to initially configured the monitors, but after I save that flight I no longer need to configure them. I just drag them left - right and I'm good to go.-Ray
