March 9, 200422 yr I just ordered the Ultimate Traffic Add-on.What is you Opinion on the Ultimate traffic Program? Do you think its worth 30 bucks? Is it hard to work? Konrad
March 9, 200422 yr Maybe, the best add-on ever. You will love it. It makes the virtual world almost real.JohnBritish Airways VirtualCaptain
March 9, 200422 yr next to FSNavigator, UT is the best addon for FS there is. The effect of opening up a flight starting at SeaTac and looking at the thirty or forty other planes sitting at their gates is just astonishing! This is a must have program. As for usability, if you read the instructions, it is no problem at all. Almost too easy, in fact...
March 9, 200422 yr Since this was posted, I have a question, I am not new to adding AI, but due to time, I was thinking of getting UT. I have a high end rig with all the PAI freeware installed as well as the official AFCADS, plus the default commercial deleted. Now what I miss is the smaller commuter traffic, between the GA and the heavies, does UT add a good amount of this kind of traffic??Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters Best, Michael KDFW
March 9, 200422 yr It depends on what your expectations are. While it provides just about every airline and airport in the known universe its AFCAD files anly provide parking spots NOT real life gate asignments. If you want that level of realism then you still need to design your own AFCAD files or download those that others have developed (and adapt them if necessary). For instance the UT AFCAD for YSSY has international and domestic traffic all mixed up. If you want to separate them then you need to use AFCAD 2.21 to assign airlines to particular gates. Fortunately freeware AFCAD files are widely available and are easily adapted to your particular requirements. For airports you know well you will want to do this. However it can become tedious if you want to adapt a large number of airports.BruceB Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." March 9, 200422 yr Thanks Bruce, I guess what I meant was does it provide the actual variety of aircraft? Tweeaking AFCADS is not a problem, I have all my VA AI set up in front of the FBOs, just when I deleted the default commercial it took the Dash with it, so aircraft of that type are gone. Would love to see the Dash, Saab, Fokker, ATR, etc instead of just boeings and buses without having to take the time to add all of them by hand like I did in Fs2002, my time is very limited.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters Best, Michael KDFW
March 9, 200422 yr What I did was found this one file that took all GA planes except the lear and maybe the dash or something that was flying in and out of the CLass B airports and rerouted them to a surrounding field. It also correct the N numbers for international flights and gave them the right kind of tail number. This file is available in the avsim library but off the hat cant think of the name. Then I made all my GA traffic set at 1% using the "if then" program. I wanted to set my GA traffic to be always on and use the slider traffic bar to control my Commercial traffic since UT can load your airports. When I installed UT I loaded it like normal and didnt enable the Ut GA traffic. I then added the Flight plans to the UT flight plans and maybe had to rename the GA planes in the aircraft file. Total of about an hour to do. Then I reconfig it with Ttools and I got the best of both worlds. Since UT doesnt have touch and go on the GA and doesnt have the old airplanes I now have all the GA goodies of the new FS and all the commercial traffic of UT. I could send you the files or attach them here and save you the time.
March 9, 200422 yr Hello Mike,I do not own UT, so maybe someone who owns both can give a more definitive answer. But from what I have read the answer to your question is, no, it does not add anything except maybe some flights using the default GA aircraft that come with FS2004. If you want lots of GA aircraft then I recommend getting the AI Addon I use, MyTraffic 2004. My understanding of it is since UT goes by real world flight plans that you have considerably less traffic at night. MyTraffic 2004 trys to maintain having airlines at their proper airports, but since it doesn't go strictly by real world schedules it also fills the skies at night just as much during the day. And MyTraffic 2004 adds a lot of different kinds of GA aircraft. It also has some military traffic going on at bases. UT serves around 4,000 airports, MyTraffic about 5,500. I have also hear that UT aircraft are better looking though. For instance, the aircraft in MyTraffic do not have dynamic shine. I think maybe UT aircraft have dynamic shine enabled(can someone confirm?). MyTraffic uses some PAI aircraft but is more optimized for FPS friendliness than the the way default PAI aircrafts are delivered when you download them from PAI. Those are some differences as I understand it.Hope that helps,Jim

March 9, 200422 yr It all depends on your Comp Robb I just got it and I agree it is good. With my comp I had no problem in Smaller Airports such as Warsaw,Poland but I had a little trouble in larger airporsts such as JFK or San Fran Intl but if you turn your Display settings down a notch it helps it out alot. March 9, 200422 yr >Thanks Bruce, I guess what I meant was does it provide the>actual variety of aircraft? Yes it does. At DAL I have seen SW 737-4 and -3 A/C in both the old and new color schemes. I have also seen old 200 models in both the old and new colors side by side, just like at Love. It doesn't get much more realistic than that!
March 10, 200422 yr LOL, I guess you are right Dean, I live about 15 mins from DAL.I gather from the great replies here that UT is the best at Heavy Commercial traffic, I just want to see more mid to GA, I think I'll give Nathans idea a try and then if still not satisfied, go with My Traffic, thanks guys.
