FSX lags and freezes

Featured Replies

FSX is very often experiencing random momentary lags and freezes … even after installing new SLI Nvidia GeForce GTX 460’s. I’m getting good frame rates (in the 30’s) but this aggravating situation continues. Everything works great in the test engine from Nvidia. I must be missing some tweak in FSX or something else.Any suggestions please …My system …Dell XPS720Microsoft® Windows Vista™ UltimateNVIDIA nForce Serial ATA ControllerIntel® Core™2 Extreme CPU Q6850C: 693.93 Gb 511.33 Gb 32 %F: 698.64 Gb 654.07 Gb 18 % (FSX here)Total 8192 Mb 667 Mhz DDRDual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1024 Mb SLIAgeia PhysX ProcessorSlot 1 2048 Mb 667 Mhz DDRSlot 2 2048 Mb 667 Mhz DDRSlot 3 2048 Mb 667 Mhz DDRSlot 4 2048 Mb 667 Mhz DDR1Kw power supplyI also have installed:Xtreme FSX PCFSGenesis North America for FSXFlight1 - Ultimate Terrain XFlight1 - Ground Environment X USA-CanadaFlight1 - Flight Environment XFlight1 - Ultimate Traffic 2 FSXI fly Flight Simulator X: Acceleration with Display Settings at (default) Ultra High on all sliders using a screen resolution of 1680x1050.

FSX doesnt like SLI. Try running one card and see what happens. Also your sliders are prolly to high for your system. Have u done any tweeks to your cfg file?

For me, the affinitymask setting of 15 stopped the stutters. You should try using the usepools=0 setting which also resuts in better and smoother performance on many systems (especially those like yours with a strong vidoecard and a slightly weak CPU.IAN
