Scenery cfg problems

Recommended Posts

I have today had to reinstall FSX acceleration which has re-activated OK.However, when loading up FSX I receive 'Scenery cfg File Error' warnings which relates to local scenery directory whereby a particular area number is not found,I in fact have 23 of these error box messages. Some of them refer to Ultimate Terrain Europe/USA and when I went to these 2 icons it stated that there was some sort of major error and that I needed to reinstall again which I am currently doing. However, some of them referred to some UK 2000 airport sceneries which were ticked and enabled within the FSX library but did not show up within the game.I have checked my scenery library within the FSX folder and they are still there. My other problem is that some of my downloaded aircraft appear in the aircraft section within the FSX game but all that is there is a question mark and the name of the aircraft underneath-most strange. Therefore,I obviously have some concerning issues and I am not sure how to resolve them and I really would appreciate any help and advice.I thank you in anticipation.

This might helpFound this nice little FREE program and it is very well suppoprted by its author Andrew Thorton. What does it do:1. Allows you to repair errors in scenery.cfg2. Allows grouping of scenery files (eg Europe, USA, etc)3. Allows very easy to change scenery priorties either individualy or by group.4. Allows you to active only the scenery that you want for you flight (ie just Europe)5. reduces loading timesThe link:http://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/files/I have found it very useful and I have only have 680 scenery enteries.any questions let me know

That question mark appearing in lieu of the aircraft "picture" indicates that you areeither missing the "thumbnail.jpg" files for those aircraft or that one or more becamecorrupted. The thumbnail.jpg files are typically found in the individual "texture" folders foreach paint of an aircraft. If they are missing, you can just create your own. Ioften just grab a screenshot of the aircraft in the Freeflight GUI preview screenand then crop it and name it "thumbnail.jpg".(You'll need to covert from BMP to JPG)You can also grab a screenshot of then aircraft in flight and manipulate thatpicture. Usually the thumbnails are quite small...around 256 pixels wide is all. Paul
