February 21, 201214 yr I've been running AS2012 since release with no problems but the application now does not run on startup. I get the following error message:A critical error occurred: Application failed to load - Root element is missing.Anyone run into this? Any idea how to recover? No changes were made to my system and I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling AS2012.

Uninstall AS2012 and remove all (if any) remaining folders including those in C:Users(your user)AppDataRoamingHiFiAS2012. Then re-install. If that doesn't work then file a trouble ticket with HiFi for more support. If you are running XP the path above will be a bit different. DJ Edited February 21, 201214 yr by ubersu
February 22, 201214 yr Author Thanks - that did the trick.Yes I know the problem had been previously reported - but I couldn't find a clear recovery - as you provided. To confirm, uninstalling & reinstalling AS2012 did not fix the problem but uninstalling, deleting the ASE and ASA folders in the path mentioned above, then reinstalling did fix the problem. I don't have a AS2012 folder in this location on my system. Thanks again for the help DJ.

Thanks for getting back so others will know...DJ
March 29, 201313 yr Yep me too. Just happened I'll try this solution. I recently overclocked my CPU any chance that is the culprit? AMD Phenom II Black Edition? Respectfully, Jet
March 31, 201313 yr Commercial Member This is usually from a CTD or improper system shutdown. The install.xml file gets corrupt. Completely uninstall AS. Delete the user data folder. XP C:\Documents and Settings\Username\AppData\HiFi\AS2012 <----Delete the AS2012 Folder Vista/Win7 C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\AS2012 <----Delete the AS2012 Folder or the ASE folder if thats the case. Then reinstall. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
