I suggest running your fsx cfg file through Bojotes tweaking tool it will give you the correct entry for your bufferpools section

Good idea. And i can validate tweaks before using the new config?Because i have already made several personal improvements to the config file.

Memory issues....... is your GTX580 a 3Gb card? Also, can you please post your system specs, your slider settings in FSX and the changes you have already made in the cfg file, cheers.

Hiya, without knowing your system specs and your slider settings it's not possible to help. From what you have replied with here suggests you have some incorrect values in your cfg. AffinityMask=14 is the correct value for quad cores, the LOD setting at 8.5 is extremely high and may be the one single elemnent that is causing problems. Reduce this to 4.5 which is the default and only then increase it once the rest of your sim is flying OK. The highmemfix is not a tweak as such, but a value that prevents some well known bugs in FSX and as such should always be added to the cfg. in the [GRAPHICS] section. I also suggest you switch HT off in the BIOS a sit is not recognised by FSX. As I said earlier, I suggest you reply with full slider settings, your system specs and a your cfg.

Thanks for the reply.I have a hard time deciding if HT should be on or off. Some claim that affinity 85 on 8 cores reduces stutter.

No wonder. Hard to come by empirical information when it comes to computers and FSX, besides very few computer setups are identical.FSX (with no addons) showed no difference in performance on my computer with HT on or off. Adding affinitymask=14 when HT was off did nothing to boost performance either.

If HT on splits every core in two = half power. Then it makes sence to turn it off.But I'm not sure you can set it up like that.

As I understand it HT doesn't physically split the cores in two - it is a "virtual" split that can be taken advantage of by compatible software. As I said, I noticed no change in peformance with HT enabled or disabled.CPU benchmark programs gave lower scores if HT was disabled though!

The advantage of turning HT off is that less heat is produced, thus allowing for a slightly higher OC. If you turn HT off but don't inclrease your clock, there will be no advantage to FSX.Cheers,- jahman.

So for a moderate overcklocker like me it won't matter? I keep well within the safe zone (2700K @ 3,9GHz -> 4,6GHz maximum).

Turning HT off should give you lower temps.Cheers,- jahman.

OK, Cool (pun intended)! Will do a test ASAP.Don't really need HT for other than video editing, which I don't do very often, so HT is disabled on my PC.
