February 28, 201214 yr I'm using WIN 7 I don't know if this a quirk of win 7 but everytime I activate FS9 I keep geeting meesages like scenery cfg error in sec 009.045,054,etc,etc I even turned back time removed and reinstalled it, and if it don't make any diffrence I'm not going to worry to much I just figured out how to add scenery, is there a set amount you should add or is there a limit????
February 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member Those errors occur when there is a scenery activated in the scenery library, but the actual scenery doesn't exist at the path specified in the scenery.cfg. Probably you deleted some scenery folders without removing their entries from the scenery library first. Take note of what the error dialog(s) are telling you and either remove the offending entry from the scenery library or correctly install the scenery into the directory path reported to be in error.Jim
February 28, 201214 yr Author IF I take them out of the scenery library and start over putting them in order will that fix I didn't take any out that started when I figured out how to install them!!!
February 28, 201214 yr Author JIM Iwent back and corrected the affected errors some dissappeared some didn't I dumdfounded I don't know much about WIN 7 If it was XP PRO I wouldn't had these problems!!!
February 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member I know in Win7 you click the "add" button on the folders dialog once and then you have to right click in the white space to get it to actually add the scenery. Yes this is a Win7 quirk and XP didn't have this problem. Some say left click in the white space, I've only been able to make it work with a right click. At this point I'd start over with a clean scenery.cfg. You'll find a fresh scenery.cfg on disk 4 in the "COMPLETE" folder. Don't use the one out of the "COMPACT" folder. Copy that file from the CD to your main "Microsoft GamesFlight Simulator 9" folder allowing it to overwrite the one that's already there. That'll put you back to square one, start the sim, and and check for errors. If you get errors now it's an indication that something's messed up with your default installation. If no errors, try again to add your addon scenery via the scenery library within FS9. Add one scenery, then close the sim and restart. If that goes OK then add another and so on. Doing it one at a time like this will allow you to isolate where your errors are coming from (the last one added is the one causing the problem, etc).Jim
February 28, 201214 yr Look for a utility called Scenery Config Editor in the FS9 utilties library. Get the latest version. In its manual it states it will detect improperly installed scenery. If you try it back up your scenery.cfg file somewhere.Let us know if it finds problems.
