Cannot get brales or force feedback to work at all

Featured Replies

Firstly, does this game support force feedback? This does not seem to be clear and there is no checkbox to enable / disable it. I am using a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 and was expecting to feel force feedback effects from control surfaces, landing gear, etc as I did in FSX. But so far, nothing at all.Secondly, I cannot brake any of the aircraft. I have tried allocating different control buttons and keyboard buttons to both brakes as well as individual left and right brakes, but absolutely nothing happens when I press these keys or buttons. Finally, the checkbox to faciliate the progerssive stop does not make any difference either way, but that probably ties in with the brakes not working at all to begin with. Maybe if I could get my brakes to work to begin with, the progressive stopping feature might also work...At present time my only options are touch and goes or rolling down the runway and into the greenery!

FF is not supported at this time. The keyboard Z X C keys are assigned to brakes by default.Z - left brakeX - both brakesC - right brakeSince the CH Pedals toe-brakes aren't supported, I've mapped left and right brakes to the two finger-trigger buttons on my CH Yoke.

There is a known problem with the brakes and assingning them etc.Use the keyboard X for brakes, The Devs said this would be fixed in a future update.Fred.

Differential braking does sort-of-work using the keyboard Z and C keys, as well as the finger-triggers on my yoke. The chief problem is that they are only on/off controls, so there's no pressure sensing along the toe-brake's axes.I can actually get the toe-brakes to occasionally work, but usually the left brake winds up locking and the right releases, resulting in some very sudden inelegant runway exits!

Thanks for the replies. I'll just have to leave it set at the keyboard defaults for the time being - they do work but as mentioned any attempt to change them - at least in my experience - does not work. Nice to know there is at least some way to stop the aircraft. I guess I can map my buttons to those default keys using the Logitech macro programmer pending a fix from MS.

I found that with smooth braking on in the options, if you use rudder with brakes, it will dif brake for you. So left rudder + brake = left brake and so in. I can turn aircraft rather well using that.

Just remember if you fly the stearman...many of the original aircraft from the 1920s-30s had NO BRAKES!

Differential Braking with a Joystick:

I have my joystick's trigger button set to both brakes, and two other buttons set to the differential brakes (right and left). You have to edit Flight's standard.xml file to make the differential brakes work correctly when you assign them to button presses.under your joystick assignments:find: <EventName>Brakes.IncrementLeft</EventName>and add: <Repeat>32.000000</Repeat>then find: <EventName>Brakes.IncrementRight</EventName>and add: <Repeat>32.000000</Repeat>
