I use RC4 along with Ultimate Traffic 2.My VA flies out of Heathrow and Gatwick. Yesterday at Gatwick I waited 25 minutes at the hold point for incoming aircraft (which I understand) but most annoyingly RC cleared 6 aircraft for take off that arrived at an adjacent hold point AFTER me!It made the experience of a "quick" shuttle flight to Manchester into a boring nightmare. Short of drastically reducing traffic density what can I do to make the queue release a little fairer and lifelike?

Not really a "fix" but maybe try going to the holding point that traffic was getting released from quickly, if it is suitable for you to use. I tend to let one or two AI aircraft taxi off before I go then go to the same hold as they went to, especially if there are multiple runways.

RC does not control ai take-off in this situation. It only monitors what FS does. If you don't mind incoming ai in holding clusters try using aismooth 1.2 in the FSX utilities section. (It also works with FS9) In its file/settings do not enable the communications settings. Increase the landing ai separation settings a bit so ai taking off can squeeze in between arrivals. RC may be more sensitive to ai on the runway as well as landing.If you have just loaded a flight ai try to catch up within an FS set window to the ai schedule and they'll bunch up for take-off and you'll also shortly get an arrival cluster.Also, in UT2 set it to spawn ai at the greatest distance to help with RC's arrival planning when you get your runway assignment.I also think in FS that ai closest to the starting point get preference in the take-off queue.

I have tried the solution of going to the hold point which seems best for release spacing at Heathrow and it does seem to work to some degree. Also Ronzie is right in thataircraft closer to the hold point seem to get preference.I am also told by other members of my VA that if you press the the Ctr+T buttons it reduces traffic to 10% thus allowing you to get a quick getaway.Its cheating but when needs must!!!

Hi Tony,You have not indicated if you are using any add on scenery for Heathrow and Gatwick.If you are and they are more up to date than the default sceneries you should try out the various hold points.At Heathrow using UK Scenery Heathrow extreme,the hold points for a 27L departure coming from Term1,3,5 are such that you can see the hold points for Term 4 Traffic and FS usually takes everyone in order.If you do not move forward far enough however you may loose your turn.With Gatwick Extreme scenery,the choice of hold points for a 26L departure number 4 and from personal choice I have only ever used three of them and they all work on the same principal providing you move up to the correct hold point.UT can spawn a lot of traffic for Heathrow and Gatwick and I usually try and adjust the sliders in order to reflect the usual sorts of delays at the hold points..You will need to play with the sliders until you get acceptable delay times.My last time at Heathrow I set my slider at 65% and by the time I reached the take off runway I had a queue of around 12 aircraft preceeding me.Norman

This is a more extreme diagnostic for the afd type file probably in Gatewick Extreme.You need to use the ADE freeware editor for FSX or modern FS9 type files. Use File/Open Airport Direct from BGL or similar. While RC does not use the afd starting point property of a runway I am curious if the entry taxiway chosen by the user and others have a starting point correctly placed. After the airport diagram opens, click viewstarting points and you will then see them. In addition if you click viewholding point radius you can view that each radius includes just over the edge of the runway. For RC your aircraft needs to be close to the edge of the runway, more so on an angled entry because RC uses the datum point of the aircraft to runway center line distance. For the larger user aircraft with the nose way forward and add to that the high placement of the cockpit you can get a view where you seem more forward than you actually are so this is something to watch out for.As stated if you want to thin arriving traffic you can use aismooth to increase separation to reduce the take-off queue by allowing more take-offs sequenced within arrivals or reduce your traffic percent.If you examine files with ADE put them in as a copy in a different folder to open. Do not open the original files.If you edit the files make safe copies of the originals in another folder.This is an advanced technique and with some file types may need to customize the .xml code produced regarding keeping existing frequencies if not specified in the file being edited. I only mention ADE as an examination tool. This has nothing really to do or is recommended by RC staff. I just use it for my own projects or for an examination tool for trouble shooting.
