March 2, 201214 yr Apart from the obvious improved graphics etc. there are a few brand new options that I really like and that I wish FS would have had years ago!1. MSF remembers your position and status of the aircraft without having to save the game! Park the plane somewhere, make it cold and dark, get out and quit MSF. Come back the next day, press Fly and you are at the exact same spot, plane cold and dark! No need to save anything! LOVE IT!2. Cool checklists! Apart from being very complete (sim!) they are also clever: when something is in the right position, the list automatically advances to the next step. It's also very cool how the things you need to do are highlighted in the VC! LOVE IT!3. Pressing M while flying brings you to the map instantly where you can change EVERYTHING (!) you want and pressing M again brings you back to the plane again! You don't have to switch between flying and the menu a few times in a row like in FSX to change various things and the ease of simply pressing M to get in and out (instead of having to click your way to Fly again) is great. LOVE IT!4. Haven't tried it yet but the Skip option is a cool idea! Great for way too long missions. LOV... well, no, it's just nice. :wink:Feel free to add your favorite new option or possibility! I'd love to get to know more, if there are any! Edited March 2, 201214 yr by Guest
March 2, 201214 yr Agreed Jeroen, I am also finding these quite refreshing. You get additional bonus points if you don't skip during an assignment - I made my passenger sick on the $100 burger mission, apparently... not sure where I went wrong :Monkey:
March 2, 201214 yr I found you can slew while in map mode using your mouse. You mean move the plane around? You can also do that in FSX, so that's not a new option so hence I didn't mention it... :wink:BTW You can not only move the plane but also easily turn it to another heading. Come to think of it: I didn't check if there is a way to change the altitude (like you could also do in FSX)... And of course you can put the plane on any runway by clicking on an airport and choose an option for that.

March 2, 201214 yr You can't change the altitude - supposedly when you place the airplane on the Map, it will be at around 1000 ft. AGL in a slight climb.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

March 2, 201214 yr BTW Right click on the map to instantly place your plane there. That's quicker then dragging the plane. Specially when the plane is in Hawaii and Alaska has been released...
March 2, 201214 yr I made my passenger sick on the $100 burger mission, apparently... not sure where I went wrongAnd my passenger said I made it look easy when I landed - even though it was a really rough landing. I guess this virtual passenger is both easy to please and has a weak stomach.
March 2, 201214 yr This isn't in FSX.While in the cockpit if you move your mouse cursor somewhere (say on the instrument panel) and rotate the mouse wheel your view will zoom in AND rotate to look at the place where your mouse cursor is located. For example on the RV airplane if you are looking straight ahead and you move your mouse cursor to the voltage gauge on the right side of the cockpit the view will zoom towards that gauge without ever panning with the mouse or the joystick hat.Just make sure that the mouse cursor isn't a hand for controlling objects. It must be the regular mouse cursor.Todd
March 3, 201214 yr Another thing I like about Flight is the built-in multiplayer. I've already had some really fun experiences with some cool people I've met through the game. Indeed, some of my memorable flight sim experiences! For example, I was invited to follow along an aerocache flight to find the Keyhole rock formation. After finding it, we took turns trying to fly through it in our rv6's. One of us would sit back and watch while the other would make the attempt. Eventually we both succeeded! Another time, a few others and I were flying along the shore and saw a ravine we wanted to fly through. So I lead the way, we're all twisting back and forth and suddenly I hear a crunch and notice my wingman no longer behind me. Turns out he clipped a tree, which was probably my fault because I made a turn last minute. This guy also happened to be from Hawaii, and knew where some of the aerocaches were, etc. So we just flew around the big island, me asking questions about stuff I see, him answering. Instant multiplayer makes all of this possible! Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk
March 3, 201214 yr 1. MSF remembers your position and status of the aircraft without having to save the game! Park the plane somewhere, make it cold and dark, get out and quit MSF. Come back the next day, press Fly and you are at the exact same spot, plane cold and dark! No need to save anything! LOVE IT!BTW This works for every situation: I quit MS Flight in mid air yesterday. Today I started flight, clicked on Play and when at the map I immediately pressed M and there I was, flying at the exact spot I left yesterday! Awesome!!! No need to save anytime at all when doing free flight! However, the game won't remember you were doing a mission! I tried quitting in the middle of a mission and after restarting I was flying at the EXACT same spot and all, but... it was free flight now! While in the cockpit if you move your mouse cursor somewhere (say on the instrument panel) and rotate the mouse wheel your view will zoom in AND rotate to look at the place where your mouse cursor is located. For example on the RV airplane if you are looking straight ahead and you move your mouse cursor to the voltage gauge on the right side of the cockpit the view will zoom towards that gauge without ever panning with the mouse or the joystick hat.Ah, cool! I already wondered why the view sometimes went sideways when I zoomed in. LOL Didn't notice at all it had to do with the position of the mouse! This is indeed quite nice (as long as Track IR doesn't work :wunk: ).EDITOh, and btw not a real feature but I just LOVE how rock solid MS Flight is!!! You can use the Windows key and get back into the game without ANY problems. Switching to another program does NOT result in lockups or black screens and even performance stays the same! It's such a HUGE improvement over FSX! Edited March 3, 201214 yr by J van E
