Opening A Can Of Worms: Custom=1

Featured Replies

I sometimes have a case of The Blurries (when flying low and fast), and after playing around with the official graphics setting, I went looking further into the .cfg, like a lot of simmers would traditionally do.I noticed that if I change stuff in that file (like the interestingly named MaxTextureUpdateBandwidthPerFrame), Flight will revert it to the original setting. That is, unless the following entry is changed:[Configuration]Custom=0This is named as if it was specifically designed for tweakers ;-)Setting this to 1 will stop Flight from reverting a tampered-with Flight.cfg, and it greys out everything in the graphics menu, so that you can not change anything there anymore. However, on my system, just setting that to one gets me a slap on the wrist... ALL autogen is gone, nothing is gained.I am NOT claiming that this leads to anything of value at all, I am just curious if someone else has been messing around with this and has come up with a result that goes beyond "don't even bother".

That is the purpose of the setting, you are correct. It does not work yet. And it may be a while before it does, if ever. Patience.Best regards.Luis

Perhaps that single line will be the start of many FLIGHT tweaks!

Yep. Same to me.. I got double slapped because I edited the cfg so much seeing if changing any of the values did anything I simply ended up deleting it.. Of course I broken cardinal rule #1 and DIDN"T make a backup of the original. :LMAO: I figured "No problem, Flight will just re-create it"...Oh it did.. It also wiped all my missions and challenges I completed clean. I had to do the intro balloon and wedding party all over again. My profile remained fine, all my stats, level etc stayed fine, unlocked caches, achievements also stayed fine.. It just completely wiped the slate clean though on all my completed missions and challenges. :LMAO:

I don't mind.. I'm an avid tweaker and it's the price you pay when you `play'. :) Those challenges and missions are fun anyway so it's not really a burden.. I literally lost nothing though except I have to do them all again.. Even the liveries I unlocked by doing certain ones before are still unlocked even though the required criteria to unlock them aren't done now. Free XP I guess. :)
