March 4, 201214 yr I'm almost at the point of wanting a refund. I believe this is a great product but I am experiencing problems and it seems no one can help. My fsx only stutters while using rc4. I would rather find a solution but it seems no one has one. Ive only had replies from one person on a separate issue and I am grateful for his help but it seems I'm having no support from the people who actualy has answers to my probles like let's say the developers! If I can't find a solution soon I will have to ask for a refund to my disappointment but I will not own a 50 dollar addon I cannot use!!
March 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member i'm sorry that this is a problem.curious, do you have a sound card, or does your sound come from the mother board?have you defragged your disks lately?are you doing some sort of proccessor affinity, or playing with priorities?do you have the display text option checked on the rc options page? if so, uncheck it.you can also send me a log, instructions pinned to the top of the forum, and duplicate the problem, zip up the log, and send it to me.jd JD Read my blog
March 4, 201214 yr Also put RC in your bypass or safe folders of any antivirus applications since their consistent monitoring of RC interacting with any application in a Program Files folder can consume resources and slow it and the application it accesses (FSX) here.Be sure you have the latest FSUIPC4 from:http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/as performance issues have been improved in interacting with ASE and probably AS2012.Is stuttering throughout your flight or only around busy airports where lot's of ai are being rendered.
March 5, 201214 yr Author Thank you for your reply. My sound is integrated Mobo. I am using SSD for OS and FSX. I use the affinitymask tweak=14 in my fsx. Cfg. I am unsure of the text option will be sure to check it.@ ronzie I don't no how to do any of that stuff, bypass folder and such. And I've tested and found when the green transparent box is visible I have stutters but if I right click and close window they seem to disappear. I didn't test that extensively it was something I noticed.
March 5, 201214 yr The green transparent box occurs if you have advdisp.dll in your modules folder and also if in RC options Display Text is checked. An integrated mobo sound system also can cause stuttering because the main CPU renders the audio. If you have advdisp.dll in your modules folder rename it advdisp.dlh to disable it. You should have a current FSUIPC from the link I posted and that will display the RC menu and status area in transparent blue (by default) with red text (which can be modified to white text if you wish). There is a long thread pinned at the forum top regarding antivirus applications that may provide how to bypass them for RC.See if stuttering improves.Going way back those who installed a separate sound card noticed significant improvement. One clarification:Are you talking about RC audio stuttering or visual stuttering.
March 5, 201214 yr Author It is visual stuttering. I will rename that .dll and uncheck display text and fire up a test flight, I'll report back with results ASAP. Thank you fellas very much for the help I really do want this thing to work as it is a great product and just wouldn't feel right flying with default atc! And on another note, kind of funny I spent all this money on a powerful system to run fsx and completely overlooked a sound card.
March 5, 201214 yr Yes, sound cards make a big difference. Do you have integrated speakers, like in a monitor, or external speakers?ronzie you said "There is a long thread pinned at the forum top regarding antivirus applications that may provide how to bypass them for RC.", but I don't see that...could you point to it...Thank You
March 5, 201214 yr Author Ok so whats puzzling to me is that module you mentioned is not in my modules folder. Inside FSC I still get the green box. I can also bring up the blue box tinkering with the multiline setting but even if i right click and close the green box as soon as i make a FS2CREW voice command the green box re appears. What could be causing this. You say I shouldnt have a green box at all, but thats the box that pops up when i start RC4??
March 5, 201214 yr Sorry, the module name if present is AdvDisplay.dll. There is also a utility if on a network client that provides a similar function called showtext.exe that might be causing that same problem. The antivirus pinned topic is:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/100174-error-75-radar-contact-and-kapersky-and-norton/RC gathers its needed audio components from disk as phrases and combines them in a ram buffer for playing. CD and weather playbacks are long and have the most disk access and depending on your system might cause stuttering. In addition RC monitoring (in FSX) uses FSUIPC4 which uses SimConnect. Other apps also runing might use SimConnect directly. Heavy use by multiple apps might take a tole on performance.FSX is not multithreaded and also like FS9 does most of its 3D object rendering and drawing using the main processor instead of calls to the graphics processor also increasing the CPU load. It has been shown though that in Win 7 it has the ability to trap complex math calls and pass them to the more efficient graphics co-processor if idle which offers some improvement. So it all boils down to pc resources available and maintaining a high clock speed of each core to handle the complex functions of FSX and many FSX specific add-ons like the ASE series.
March 9, 201214 yr Author Ok I oficially have smooth running fsx with rc4. It's fixed thank you for your support. I would like to revisit the callsign problem now. I noticed today at Boston almost all my ai aircraft were being called by the phonetic first letter of the airline. And something else strange I was number 2 for departure behind an American airlines 757 Wich atc called alpha 2133 hold short 33l then cleared annother American airlines plane to land and called the aircraft on final it's appropriate callsign American 211 cleared to land I thought that was strange
March 10, 201214 yr First, what solution worked for you regarding stutters.Second, what is your traffic application or source of ai aircraft. The ATC ident (radio call) is defined in the area of the aircraft aircraft.cfg under the flightsim section for that particular paint. This thread covers this in part:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/364770-rc-and-ut2-callsigns/
