March 6, 201214 yr This has been a problem bugging me for a while. Taxiing in FS2004 (and FSX) is fustrating for me due to the lack of traction. I am flying my CLS A300-600R and I'm trying to make a turn in my aircraft and even though it is indeed making the turn, it seems as if i'm drifitng around the corner with my nose wheel doing absolutely nothing.I was wondering if there was a fix for this such as a payware program or a simple change in the aircraft.cfg that i could make in order to get my aircraft to stick to the taxiway during my taxi. Please note that my wind speed has been set to zero so there is no chance that could be the reason why. Thanks in advanceJustin
March 6, 201214 yr For FS9 there was/is a mod to the sim1.dll in the modules folder that seemed to correct this. When I was using FS9 I used the file modded by Johan Dees and it worked well.I think the problem was fixed in FSX!Here you go:https://rapidshare.c...BE30CBD6E12|0|0 Drop this file in your FS9 modules folder and overwrite! Backup your stock dll first!!!Cheers Edited March 6, 201214 yr by venustus67 DIMITRI
March 6, 201214 yr The CLS A300 FDE seems to be a little off as far as weight distribution on front wheel gear. If you make the dll mod then planes that work correct, which is most all of them, will start displaying strange characteristics. Otherwise, its not so much the sim as the aircraft design. I find if I load it more CG forward it steers better, The little circle CG thing in FS is merely a suggestion on some models. :)I thought that DLL mod had to do with ground friction, aircraft required more thrust than usuall to move and it reduced it, less traction. Like the iFly 737 when it was released. More than steering. Edited March 6, 201214 yr by Barnstormer1 ArDee
March 7, 201214 yr Hi Justin,One thing that is very important, that you failed to mention, is, at what speed are you taxing while attempting to make your turn?Mel
March 7, 201214 yr I thought that DLL mod had to do with ground friction, aircraft required more thrust than usuall to move and it reduced it, less traction. Like the iFly 737 when it was released. More than steering.exactly - and many fde designers already compensate for this fs limitation, some therefore report almost uncontollably fast taxi speeds with the modified sim1.dllHi Justin,One thing that is very important, that you failed to mention, is, at what speed are you taxing while attempting to make your turn?Melditto - turns approaching 90deg or greater should be taken at 10kt or less Regards, Mark
March 7, 201214 yr If you are using cockpits that are high and forward iof or over the nose wheel you will get the effect of overshooting your desired turning boundaries that will plant your nose wheel and main gear off of the taxi path. That plus as noted too fast a taxi speed will give you the skidding effect from overshoot and the distorted view.
