Got a bottleneck
You should check within your task manager to see whether or not FSX is the culprit. FSX does not use multiple cores and it looks like there's a possibility that either an addon or an entirely other program causing the 100% cpu load. The program might be an fsx associated program, so if you are unable to find a specific program, try uninstalling add ons to see if you can find which might be causing a problem. And finally, do a fresh install as a last resort.

backup question
rsfjustin replied to clayton4115's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI've never done this before so take my advice with a grain of salt. There are couple things I'd keep in mind, a lot of your aircraft profiles are in your "My Documents" folder depending on where you chose to save it. There's also some scattered throughout your directory, I think your scenery should be relatively safe though with just a simple copy and paste as your also copy and pasting the same scenery director. Honestly though, if you just take a night and just reinstall everything, I think you'll save yourself a bit of time debugging what didn't paste over properly. Link Here's a post on cloning software and hardware you can use. I'm sure there are cheaper software available if you google it.

PC spec for FSX / FSX Steam Edition
You're on the right track, Skylake doesn't look like it's going to net any significant performance gains, I've heard anything from what you said to as low as 2-3%, all rumors at this point. I think you're better off investing in some heavy duty water cooling and overclock the **** out of that i7. Seems like Skylakes gonna be a big emphasis on the iGPU, maybe a good time to replace my macbook for a light gaming. As for the all-in-ones, I would advise against it as a tech enthusiast, those things lock you into the hardware and often is impossible to upgrade. In addition, they mainly use mobile gpus which simply don't have the same horsepower as their desktop equivalents. I would run your build through reddit.com/r/buildapc just to see if you can save some money on some parts.

FSX/P3D performing incredibly well on a dirt cheap Intel G3258?
rsfjustin replied to OmniAtlas's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI had a G3258 that a buddy of mine lent me for a while. I was able to OC the cpu to around 4.4ghz with the stock cooler, this was running the cpu with 1.250v. I've squeezed out 4.5ghz under 1.3v but crashes after an hour. I think my cpu was about average with the research I did on the web. Even with a water cooler, 4.8ghz running as high as 1.4v is pretty rare and can lead to a much shorter life for the cpu. I think 4.2ghz under a water cooled solution at 1.3v would be the assumption I would take up when purchasing and think of any increase in performance as just pure luck. With that being said, I can run the game max settings and anisotropic filter at around 25fps. That's with traffic at their default levels. I usually run with an i7-4770 and I find it much more reliable and obtain 30fps with the same settings. I know what they say about FSX being only able to run on one core. But I do think multi cores does help the game smooth things out. I run on a msi r7-260x OC, I just got myself a 970, so I'm excited to see if I get some fps bumps.

Flight Sim news site that I found
Hey everyone, I was scouring the internet as usual and I came upon this site, http://flightsimulatornewsbrief.blogspot.com/. I have never been to a flight sim site that update more times a day than this one. I left about 2 hours a go to hangout at the firehouse and came back to find that they posted 7 pieces of news. Check it out!

Bizjet Virtuals
Check out This virtual airline.http://miragechartersva.enjin.com/homeIt's a brand new start up that serves many different destinations. I terms of jets, there's only the Cessna citation but there are active talks of expanding that. In addition they also have the new carenado in their fleet. They also don't require you to fly on vatsim like another business virtual airline.....

Taxiing Physics
This has been a problem bugging me for a while. Taxiing in FS2004 (and FSX) is fustrating for me due to the lack of traction. I am flying my CLS A300-600R and I'm trying to make a turn in my aircraft and even though it is indeed making the turn, it seems as if i'm drifitng around the corner with my nose wheel doing absolutely nothing.I was wondering if there was a fix for this such as a payware program or a simple change in the aircraft.cfg that i could make in order to get my aircraft to stick to the taxiway during my taxi. Please note that my wind speed has been set to zero so there is no chance that could be the reason why. Thanks in advanceJustin

What happened to Transload Airlines
I was wondering why Transload Airlines has been so inactive lately. I came across their website couple months back and I found their fleet list to be absolutely astounding, I have never seen a more diverse fleet list EVER. Couple gripes are that their website is a bit dated and their routing system is a bit small. I submitted my application and have not received a response since. I see great potential for this airline, if their fleet has some standardized livery (no offense but the amount of different liveries they have rather turns me off) and a new up to date routes for their aircraft, i would put it as one of the best VA's in the world. They even have their own airports (yes plural) that are beautifully designed. They may need an ACARS system as well but I can't figure out why such an airline has that few pilots.....Anyways check their website out (google it) and take a look around, I really hope that this airline comes out from hibernation as it would be great to fly for them.

Ivy Bridge Discussion Thread
rsfjustin replied to Ben Cap's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etci'm not a huge computer geek so i have couple questions about the launch of new processors.1. How long does it take for the processor to launch and for me to be able to purchase it in a laptop off hp.com (only using hp as an example)2. How will this affect the price of new laptops (you can imagine i'm looking to purchase a new laptop) and by how much?

FSX on a laptop
am looking to purchase a new laptop for college, I'm hoping to run FSX smoothly on it. My budget is anything up to about $800 so i'm not looking to run FSX at 40fps or anything. But if I could run at 20 fps while on the ground i'll be happy. I have narrowed it down to two different options but I'd be more than happy to accept any more suggestions. Trouble opening some .bmp files
Hey everyone,I want to try out painting some aircrafts but i've encountered a problem. I am unable to open some of the .bmp files in my texture folders, couple of them I can't open at all. I have tried opening them up with Paint.net, photoshop, and gimp, but no joy. Something I have spotted is that the ones that have the preview on the thumbnail i can open, while the ones that don't have it i can not. Is the .bmp file locked or is it damaged (probably not since i get these files from a majority of different developers)? And most of these aircrafts do not have paint kits either. Can anybody help me out?? Thanks!

Missing Control Z line of red text
Hi everyone,In the last few days, FS2004 on my computer has been missing the lines of red texts that usually appear on the upper or lower edges of my screen. When my parking break is on, there usually is a red line telling me to press "." to release the brake. And when i click control z, there should be a line of information on the upper edge of the screen. However, in the past 3 days, those lines have dissapeared, I have tried restarting it and going through the options menu. Has anybody ever encountered this problem, and if so, is there a fix? I don't want to waste time uninstalling and reinstalling the game. HELP!!!Thanks,EDIT: Thanks to bobbyjack for clarifying my question, I mean shift-Z sorry, its getting late here :(
