March 8, 201214 yr I have never flown a Maule in real life, but Cessnas 172 , 182, Cherokees,Ultralights, Sport light planes and twins engine planes. In Flight the Maule Its a beautifull plane, but needs fixing.Stall: The stall warning should warn you about an upcoming stall about 8 to 10kts before the stall, in Flight you get the warning just when you stall, so at the end is not a stall warning, is just a confirmation of a stall. Also the stall is very abrupt and steep , I hope is not like that in the real MauleFlaps, all planes get lift with the every notches of flaps and lift up when applied, in in the Maule in Flight is the opposite, every notch, you loose lift and need to trim up.Also the plane feels twichy and unstable, just strange.

I'm not sure whether the stall is abrupt and deep on the real Maule, but the manual does mention 300 feet of altitude loss is normal for stall recovery.Regarding the effect of flaps, they do add lift but they will also change the pitch moment of the wing. Needing to adjust trim because the pitch moment has changed does not mean you have a loss of lift. John-Alan Pascoe
March 8, 201214 yr I agree the Maule is somewhat unstable. AAMOF, I just posted my personal gripes on another thread. I think though, not every aircraft tends to balloon upon flap application. Not sure about the Maule in real life, but am very familiar with C172s and PA-180s. The flap effect on lift, depending on speed and pitch can vary quite a bit. The Warriors I've flown balloon much more than the Skyhawks. Or maybe it's how I fly them.Cheers, i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.
