Multiplayer and ATC? (noob question)

Featured Replies

I fell in love to Flight quite easily. I have been playing simulators since that FS with training among skyscrapers and though I am not a HC simmer I still love flying a lot. My favorite sim up to today has been Flight Unlimited 2 due to its immersive ATC - I just loved the added challenge of communicating with approach / tower / ground, having to follow your my way through taxis, checking conditions on ATIS, being able to ask for vectors for visual, that all was a factor that I was missing in my brief time with FSX a lot - and it is one factor I would really love to be introduced to Flight.I have heard about Vatsim quite a lot and I am curious whether something similar would be possible within Flight - at least to some degree. It seems to me that it would be easier to implement basic tools needed for ATC then building AI and things connected to it. I have not had the opportunity to try multiplayer for myself so I would like to hear if it would be possible to try something alike in current state of things or what tools would be necessary to experience multiplayer ATC at a basic level. Thanks for your answers!

Huge outcry at the Beta Forum about "No ATC"Don't know what the FLIGHT Team's plans are for this.Right now chat can be done on the Freq you're on or broadcast to whole session.... not sure the keystroke for this.

Ok, so would it make any sense to use some kind of voice-chat with one player acting as ATC?

Sounds like could be quite a lot of fun...

Yes.. CTRL-TAB is voice chat to talk to only the people on the radio freq you are on.. TAB - Broadcast to everyoneCTRL-TAB - Broadcast to radio channel only.

All right, I have to check the multiplayer tonight. So, is there anything that could be done in relation to the ATC session? I guess it would a bit of organisation, and certain level of knwoledge on part of participants.Would anyone be interested?

Was just thinking about this. Having a player act as ATC is a good idea.. Many FSX sessions operate the same way..The small `problem' is the planes have no call signs. It would sound so silly"YUTrollin2356 cleared for takeoff three one left""CODCamper443 heavy runway three five taxi into position and hold"

normally I just type the name in on someone near the airport if I am cleared to land or if its safe :)

I have also had some issues with this and I am pretty much sure I am doing something simple wrong :) Although at this point I am not sure what that is! I'll figure it out eventually.About 3 or 4 days after the launch I went into a multiplayer room and saw text chatting and heard some voices (not sure how or why) and they were basicly doing really really simple ATC telling the planes when to line up at the runway and giving them permission to take off. I guess they were basicly being the ground controller. And thing of it is they actually seemed to be enjoying themselves. I guess any game, simulator, is what you make of it! Let your imagination wonder as long as your are being polite to others and enjoying yourself. After all it's up to you how you want to enjoy it!I mean it would be complicated probably but couldn't you assign call sign's and just make a list for the person controlling. For instance I could be:Gamertag Call SignLearjet777 N777MC (pronounced: November,7,7,7,Mike,Charlie)So I would have to write down my call sign only and the controller would have a list for everyones call sign! And something like (just know the basics):November 777 Mike Charlie taxi to runway 23L and hold short! I know this is not all correct but wouldn't it work if you put some effort into it! Just to enjoy doing something different in MS Flight!Hey I'll be there and try if anyone is interested! If it doesn't work out than no harm done!We would have to choose an airport and pick a time to meet up ahead of time! I would use an airport that comes with the basic download so anyone that wanted could join! Please don't slam me I am NOT a controller, but I play one on TV!

That sounds great... May be someone could make a new topic in multiplayer section? I would do it myself but I don't feel to be in position to go forth, it would be far better if it was done by someone with greater experience :)As for the call signes an easy way around this would be to use first 3 letters of the nick - in my case Fa1re => Foxtrot Alpha One - makes any sense?
