March 27, 200422 yr HiOften when approaching airports to make an ILS landing, the airport although listing ILS freq,. for both ends of the proposed runway, I find when I select the approach my aircraft wants to adopt a BC and proceeds to turn 180. Any ideas to solve this annoying problem?thanksBob Wright
March 27, 200422 yr Where do you read that ILS freq? Please give us an example of an airport and runway where you encountered that problem, so I can check.Jozef http://pluizig.ath.cx/signature.jpg
March 27, 200422 yr Hi BobThe last time I had this problem was in PIC767 and it transpired to be the Course Selector being set incorrectly. When I selected the heading of the runway on the Course Selector, the aircraft lined up correctly and executed the approach.
March 27, 200422 yr Hi Mike,Never thought I'd see a post from a fellow Wellingtonian on here!!Very cool.CheersTimKaroriWellington
March 28, 200422 yr HI Waiwhetu, Lower Hutt for me - formerly Thorndon.Perhaps we should have some multiplay action for the WellingtoniansCheersLungs
March 28, 200422 yr Well Fairfield, Lower Hutt for me...Multiplay sounds like a good idea to me. I tried the Bush Net recently and it seemed like a good idea and quite simple to get setup (compared with Vatsim). Might be good for a try. I am sure that Wellington is chock full of FS enthusiasts.
March 28, 200422 yr I've experienced this situation at several airports...an example is KMDW Chicago Midway RWY 31C, ILS freq 109.9. I know which direction I am approaching from but the ILS bar is on the wrong side. In a minute or so it flips to the right side. Don't know why but I guess the only answer is to know for sure which direction you're approaching from and just wait until it flips to the correct side. Make any sense?
March 28, 200422 yr Runway 31C at KMDW (Midway) has the same ILS frequency as the opposite runway 13C (109.90). So depending on your approaching angle I think you might pick up first the ILS for rwy 13C.When I remember well, there was an option in an older FS version to choose the ILS manually when two opposite ILS were on the same freq.Jozef
March 28, 200422 yr Author This situation has been posted about several times where in FS9 opposing ILSs on the same freq are live as opposed to the real world situation where I've read tower ATC activates the one for the active runway end. It did not happen to me in FS2K2.I suspect the wrong one might be dominant until within 15 degrees of the front course if you are coming in with a direction such as you've been vectored around so the opposite one was live first on your OBS or EHSI. The best thing to do is listen to or read the identifier on your NAV equipment display. If you want to go "non-standard" and you just use a few of these opposing ILS shared frequency situations, you should with the latest version of AFCAD2 be able to change the frequency assignment of one of them. Supposedly you require a unique frequency with 200 km.
