LINDA Console Error Message

Featured Replies

LINDA Console.......... Error Message:[E] JoyGetDevCaps for Device 7 return error 165 [00000A5]The list starts at 7 goes through to and including Device 15. Total of 9This also appears in FSUIPC4.log which Pete Dowson is working on as it appears LINDA could be causing problems with FSUIPC. Whenever I attempt to open FSUIPC the sim (FSX) crashes. If I unplug the three BU0836X boards which carry the PMDG737NGX overhead LINDA switches and buttons inputs then FSUIPC returns to normal.Pete Dowson suggested I inform you of the above error warning. Linda is performing normally.Delf

Hi Derek,Just for information, i use 2 BU0836X boards with the NGX without any problem.Have you checked if your device works under Windows before trying to start FSX ?After this test you can also start LINDA without FSX and check if all is OK with the 3 boards ?Michel

Hi Michel,Thanks for reply and suggestions.I have checked the device works under Windows, all is o.k. plus all three boards are o.k in LINDA. All overhead panel controls are functional. LINDA functions perfectly in the PMDG737NGX. I just cannot access FSUIPC with PMDG aircraft selected. If I go to any other aircraft then FSUIPC access is normal. Will wait for a reply from LINDA team. Thanks again,Derek

Derek, First of all I would suggest you to try to remove Run1=...Modules/linda.exe from your fsuipc4.ini. This will prevent LINDA GUI from auto-starting with FSX. Then we'll if this error is LINDA GUI related or LINDA's Lua part related. Without GUI your joysticks programmed in LINDA will not work, but we need this step for diagnostics purposes. Try it and report if it will allow you to get FSUIPC window in FSX without or the problem will remain.

Thanks Artem for the quick reponse.Did what you recommended and removed Run1=..Modules/linda.exe from the FSUIPC.ini folder. This has closed the auto starting with FSX. My overhead switches no longer function in PMDG737NGX these were all progammed in LINDA via BU0836X boards.FSX still crashes whenever I select FSUIPC in the PMDG model.Regards,Derek

Ok, then this is the FSUIPC/Lua related error.LINDA's Lua scripts do not use any undocumented features, they all are clean and simple.1. Check if you have the same error with other aircrafts (not NGX)2. Edit /Modules/linda/aircraft/PMDG737NGX/actions.lua script - backup it and then clear it contents (it should be EMPTY) - check for error.3. Talk to Pete about Lua memory usage, as NGX module is the biggest in size.

O.K.The crash issue does not exist with other aircraft only NGX.Kept backup of the orig actions.lua file then emptied the contents of the active filw.......it is now EMPTY.Ran FSX with PMDG737NGX selected, opened FSUIPC with no crash, then went to Buttons and Switches page in FSUIPC which opened without trouble. Moved to the AXIS Assignment page with no problems. Finally clicked O.K. to exit FSUIPC with NO crash. So FSUIPC could be accessed without crash with that empty actions.lua filePete has the information about Lua memory usage and NGX module size, waiting to hear back from him.Regards,Derek
