FMC Route

Featured Replies

Hello!I just bought the boeing 737-800 PMDG version. I have spent alot of time in the FMC, its all new to me, and i have followed the tutorials following with the PMDG aircraft. However i struggle with putting up my own flight route in the FMC. I want to fly from ESSA to EGGL, and when i enter "UN873" under the via section the FMC tells me that the input value is invalid. I have followed alot of guides on youtube, and when i try to do what they´re doing i can get it working, but not on my own.I plan my routes whitin FSX.What am i doing wrong? What is the correct way to set up your own flightpath?I dont need an indepth answer as im new to this. To start with im happy to get the route working in the FMC.Thanks for your time and answer.

Give us your whole route and then we can maybe help.

Are you sure of the destination? EGGL does not show up for me.

First you should enter at least one waypoint that is part of the airway. And don't use FSX native routes as they are probably outdated or don't exist anymore. Instead, look for a route generator - like rfinder.asalink.net/free/ - or a route database program - vroute works great. And I'd recommend reading the rules of this forum before posting.

He properly means EGLL also known as Heathrow airport.

You need a routeplanner. You can download vRoute for free. And then you need the correct Airac. A route that will work with AIRAC 1203 could be: ESSA DKR N872 ELPAX Z703 ALS N872 DEMIR UN872 PAM UL980 LOGAN EGLL.

Kind regards

Yes, Heathrow EGLL.I will try and use vroute to see if it works better. Thanks for the fast answer.

You could try N873. Upper airways like UN873 no longer exist over Scandinavia, so will have been deleted from the nav database. Another possibility is a mismatch between the revision of nav database you have installed in the NGX and the database revision used to generate the flight plan you are trying to load.Routefinder suggests N866/UN866 for ESSA to EGLLESSA SID ARS N623 BEDLA N866 UPGAS UN866 BUKUT UP7 LOGAN STAR EGLL

That was my assumption as well but you know what happens when we assume :-)Anyway here is the current routing. We literally get 100's of nav data changes per month. It is more than likely that his routing is no longer valid.ESSA DKR4E DKR N872 ELPAX Z703 ALS N872 DEMIR UN872 PAM UL980 LOGANLAM3A EGLL

Hi,First, remember that fsx navigation data is out of date. So, a few things could be different from the navdata pmdg has. When you enter a route, under "TO", you can enter any valid fix. But when entering under "VIA" the previous fix MUST be part of the airway you are entering. (Or a valid departure from the origin airport you are at)Example, from tutorial 1.The route is: CLN5P CLN UL620 REDFA REDFA1AAfter entering the runway and departure, you get this in the route pagevia ................... toCLN5P..............CLNNow you should enter UL620 under "via", and you can do that beacuse CLN is part of that airway. Then you getvia...........................toCLN5P.....................CLNUL620.......then.......-------Now you should enter under "to" a fix to complete that leg, and that fix must be also part of the airway.Hope you understand.

I am not in FSX right now and I use FSCommander as my tool with navigraph updates. The above routing was calculated using Jeppesen's JetPlanner tool which is what real life airlines use.
