FO Won't Leave My CDU Alone

Featured Replies

I must start carrying a stick when I fly so I can hit my FO over the knuckles when he changes my CDU setting :Phbbbt:I normally set my CDU on the 'Take Off' page before taxi, only to find my FO has changes it back to the 'NGX Menu' page ?? Also during the climb I prefer the 'Legs' page, but the FO thinks I should be looking at something different, normally the climb page - Hope this is changed in the SP.Quick question, when he says "Approach is clear" prior to going onto the runway is this just cosmetic or is there some interaction with FSX that allows him to see AI aircraft on the approach.Sorry one last thing, I've noticed if during the climb I say "Select Flaps Up Speed" by mistake instead of "Set flaps up speed" the FO turns OFF the Flight Directors causing all sorts of flight instrument problems at the wrong time - I know, I should get it right first time, but in the heat of battle i.e. Takeoff, these things happen :blush:Glen

Hi Glen,CDU... updated in SP1. Only way FS2Crew can currently control the external chocks, gpu, air, etc., is to press buttons on the CDU. He currently uses the Capt's side, but in SP1 he'll use the FO's side 99 percent of the time (AC must have AC power)Approach is clear is currently cosmetic. If I can figure a way to get him to spot incoming traffic, I'll do it. FO is a little bit smart though... he'll only call approach is clear if you're turning "left" on to the runway."Select flaps up speed" is currently not in the grammar... so the speech system I guess chose the next closest sounding thing.I'll add that to SP1 in case anyone makes the same mistake. It's important to use the correct phraseology.Cheers,

Very clever, I wondered why he didn't say that while turning right onto 26L at Gatwick today :(

That gives me a ton of headaches. I am used to saying "Bug UP speed" from our SOPs and during takeoff I revert to old habits. Eventually I'll learn it

I can add "Bug Up Speed" for you in two seconds.
Awesome. Only if you think it as appropriate. Don't change something just for me. I'm thinking adding more phrases it might make voice recognition mistakenly understand something else more often. If it won't then that would be lovely and the usual awesome bryan-esque after sale service. Speaking of CDU. According to the CRM practices in the Boeing 737 NP.11.3 the Pilot Monitoring should make the inputs to the CDU and the PF should confirm before executing.
In flight, the PM usually makes the CDU entries. The PF may also make simple, CDU entries when the workload allows. The pilot making the entries executes the change only after the other pilot verifies the entries.
But I recon the amount of AI required to accomplish that task in most cases would not be available. But it might be worth looking at being able to select UP select DIRECT TOs?

Hi,I'm not replacing, just adding extra alternative options for the same command. So users can still use "Set Flaps Up speed".As for point #2, not possible due to the AI issue you mention. How is the FS2Crew FO/ PNF going to know what to input in the FMC? He's smart, but not that smart :(
