Honolulu Hangar Race Video

so you could park your camera over at the hangar without having to get out of your plane and walk there.
I think that would make for a more exciting video--the scorekeeper gets out of the plane and stands inside the hangar, against a wall, watching the planes whiz by only a few feet away. Will have to try that next time. :)

Thanks for the video, Frank! That was awesome fun yesterday!!!Maybe we could refine the race concept and introduce more rounds/disciplines with restrictions how to fly through the hangar:- only inverted- only as part of a loop- ...Anyway, hope to see you back soon at the hangar!

Regards,

Tom

I'm thinking of doing another race tonight if anyone's interested. I'm west Coast US. I figure any time between 7 and 10 PM. That would be around 0200 to 0500 UTC, if I'm not mistaken.

Probably a little too late for me. But if you plan anything like that again for next sunday, count me in!

Regards,

Tom

This is a great idea but could I suggest that the judge or whoever is filming for YouTube be "on foot" rather than in the cockpit. This would allow easy free camera movement.---I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?nzx22y

Thanks, Sarlac, good suggestion. I'll certainly record it that way next time. Will try it again tonight. Nobody showed up last night! So I did a freight job. :)I'd like to find a better way of getting the word out about when the races are taking place. Posting here is too hit and miss. I guess the first step is getting people to realize that this is quite a fun way of using the program. So far it's gone over like a lead zeppelin (to steal a Keith Moon line). I know that flying squeamish passengers straight and level to Molokai, or organizing big formation flights is extremely stimulating, so it will continue to be a struggle getting this to take off (pun intended) against that sort of competition. :Nerd:

I'm also going to film the races using my TrackIR 5 along with Fraps. I'll use mouse emulator and that scripting file described in another thread. I've already tested while flying and stopped using it because it doesn't always come back to center. That won't matter for filming races. I'll just hit my view reset joystick button to quickly get back to watching the hangar...
