April 11, 201214 yr However, I feel very weird speaking to someone's young child as a total stranger. This kid is younger than my son and I wouldn't want him talking to any old stranger on the 'net. I guess you could ask what his parents are doing letting him go onto the 'net like that, but it does bother me a little. What do you think? I'd say give him all the help he needs. As long as you know he's a child and treat him/her with that in mind, I see no problem whatsoever. Dick
April 22, 201214 yr Back in the mid 80's I knew adults that felt odd hanging out with this kid talking about the C-64 and programs for it but they got over it. I learned a lot from them. We are so connected today that the world seems a little scarier. Where would this kid turn for chat about something he seems passionate about? Encourage him and help him. As far as kids that act like jerks behind the firewall, boot them as quick as you would an adult doing the same thing. May 2, 201214 yr Kids are encoutering adults all the time online, in real time games, forums, etc. I'm a parent, and my daughter knows all about safety on the 'net -- never assume someone is who they say they are (or how old they are) -- never give out your location (except maybe country & state). You have to keep booting them unfortunately. Or, just set your match to private for a few minutes and they will usually give up, then switch it back to public. MS should really fix this, if you get booted, you shouldnt be able to rejoin right away, or at all for that matter. Thanks for that tip. I had one crash kiddie I booted several times in a row until he finally promised to behave himself. There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

No crash kiddie will join the session, or will leave it as soon as he recognizes the bad weather. Sometimes even night flying is enough :)
