HI guys,the heading states it. i wonder how reliable that FDE is cause I just got my Saitek Yoke and pedals and try to fly with that. Thus I thought of using that plane for relearning that. I noticed that you´ll mostly don´t need the rudder at all. I do sailplane flying in RW so I know how to fly turns correct.

It is OKAY, the rudder is very sensetive.

With reference to altering the Carenado 172 .cfg file. Does it make sense to leave the [fltsim.x] and [CameraDefinition.x] data as it is. Completely, Anthony....and make the changes from [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] onwards. Yes - just copy both original Carenado air and cfg to a safe spot, then make the changes in the the rest of the cfg file. Don't change the .air file at all, and you don't need to touch the Carenado textures.I'm trying to avoid messing up aircraft the textures. Also in the Carenado folder the the .air file is listed as SingleEngineProp.air as opposed to Cessna172SP.air. Doesn't matter..I would love to try these adjustments on the Carenado model. Go for it - this is part of the hobby!

Is there a cockpit texture upgrade available for the default 172? It hasn't aged well at all.

Haven't seen one, JMR, but post it here if you do. I just haven't been looking.

If you stick to just the default C172 for now, then it's simply a case of downloading the 2 files and placing them both into:-[your drive and root FSX path] :....Flight Simulator X SimObjects Airplanes C172Overwrite if prompted.===========================Now a strange thing I have noticed; in the past I have been able to change the [Power Scaler] entry in the aircraft.cfg, to tweak total power, yet when I now tweak the [Power Scaler] in the default C172, the result is that the engine will not start, even with CTRL+E.... !Anyone know why that is? ...... are some aircraft 'locked' in this regards?Cheers.

Scrub that! ....... I found out that changing the HP (horsepower) value has the desired effect. Now not that I am in anyway questioning the amazing work of RealAir, but I did notice that on the tweaked version, the HP value for the engine is 280hp! ..... This is probably necessary to deliver one of the other aspects of the airfile, but for me it's making the 172 a bit too quick on acceleration and climb. I set the value to 180hp and now, with the other amazing tweaks in this RealAir air file, my C172 is flying beautifully!

You're right, Stick, but it's not a RealAir 'doing' - it was me: I think this was one of my experiments, and I didn't change it back to the 200 that the Turbo version has.....
