March 29, 201214 yr HI guys, the heading states it. i wonder how reliable that FDE is cause I just got my Saitek Yoke and pedals and try to fly with that. Thus I thought of using that plane for relearning that. I noticed that you´ll mostly don´t need the rudder at all. I do sailplane flying in RW so I know how to fly turns correct. March 29, 201214 yr It's 'ok' Stephen, but you'll like the RealAir one better:-http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52676345/Cessna172SP.airhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/52676345/aircraft.cfgThis is an uprated engine, too. Just copy your old air and cfg files for a backup, and stick these to in their place. March 29, 201214 yr Its truly aweful. Honestly, it doesnt even remotely fly like the real thing. Case in point, stomp on the rudder and hold it, see what happens.

March 29, 201214 yr Sho' 'nuff do, Glen! The only one I had 'issues' with was using the RA config file, renaming the aircraft inside it, to try and match up the (seven) textures! I settled on the regular files. I do use the Sonic Solutions Sound Pack with it, and have played with the instruments, too. I do like the 172. I also have the F1 version ®. It has a nice sound pack too. Gotta play some more.... :) i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
March 30, 201214 yr PJ,Thank you so much for giving us the links for the RealAir 172 config and air files. WOW....the 172 never felt so good. I remember the RealAir when I used FS2004, and I missed her. This makes the Default 172 feel so controllable and so much more like the real thing. I took my "new" 172 to photorealistic Hawaii (I wonder why I chose that scenery?), took off from Ford Island with ASE injected real weather, and flew toward Diamond Head, absorbing the beautiful Honolulu environment. Did some flight sightseeing for about 40 minutes and returned to Ford. It felt like I was flying a brand new airplane. Thanks again.Stan
March 30, 201214 yr You're welcome, Stan - she's a nice aeroplane, isn't she!!As some of my buddies know - I like to clamp the weather down to 400' base, vis at 1/8th mile, tops at 6 or 7000, and then fly an IFR route for an hour or so - and this is the baby I do it in: she has no gps, just a couple of VOR's, an ADF, a DME and a thingy to keep it level. She's great!! I love this little aircraft! I'm glad you like her! Thank you! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
March 30, 201214 yr Yeah another CHEERS! for that, I too remember the RealAir FS2004 C172 mod, but didn't know that a FSX version was out there. :smile:I put it in the default C172 G1000, along with an old Syncrosoft 172 sound addon I found on my HD (for FS9 but worked great with FSX)....... I have to say, even though I was flying a default, it felt like I'd bought a new addon!I was very surprised how FAST the 172 now feels with the RealAir FDE..... very fast to 60knts and cruises at 115 at about 75% power.... just like a 180hp C172 should.... The default air file always felt more like the 160hp model (on a bad day!).Cheers. Codelegend (Ideal Flight) has a complete version that is free for both the 172 and the Baron. I just combined the flight character of the RA version, (which makes it spin-able), the power of the bigger engine, and the sounds from Sonic Solutions.. Now it is a very nice aeroplane! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
March 30, 201214 yr Author Are there any freeware C172 sounds out there? Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
March 30, 201214 yr Is there a cockpit texture upgrade available for the default 172? It hasn't aged well at all.
March 30, 201214 yr With reference to altering the Carenado 172 .cfg file. Does it make sense to leave the [fltsim.x] and [CameraDefinition.x] data as it is and make the changes from [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] onwards. I'm trying to avoid messing up aircraft the textures. Also in the Carenado folder the the .air file is listed as SingleEngineProp.air as opposed to Cessna172SP.air. I would love to try these adjustments on the Carenado model. Anthony O'Brien
