March 30, 201214 yr Hello All -First and foremost, I have been out of the PC upgrading/repair world for quite some time. I've become more of a Network Engineer with IP routing, Transport, etc. So forgive me if I seem "newbie" to PC hardware :)FSX has had its ups and downs on my PC. I think I've concluded that UT2 is a major contributor to the frame rate drop when approaching larger Airports. I've modified the FSX.cfg (based on the Bojote's Tweaking/Tuning tool) which helped GREATLY. I mainly fly the PMDG 737NGX along with RCv4, ASE, FSCrew and GSX.Any suggestions on what to upgrade without breaking the wallet? I've heard/read SSD's are the way to go, but I can see that being a pain when trying to move FSX files/addons etc over.Basic PC Specs -CPU - AMD II x2 245 Processor 2.90 Ghz o/c to 3.13 ghzRAM - 8.00 GB DDR2GPU - Nvidia GeForce GT220 w/1GbI'm guessing the Video Card needs to be upgraded, but I'd hate to do that to find out the CPU was the biggest culrpit. Thanks for the input! March 30, 201214 yr Save your cash for a few months and try to budget for a system around 1000US dollars. You can build a great IB system with a mid range Nvidia GPU.

As Ben said, save your money and make a worth while purchase when you're ready for a new system. In the mean time, I would try a stronger overclock. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 30, 201214 yr Agreed. Don't upgrade your current rig. Save for a whole new system. However, you could upgrade your video card if you want and plan to transfer it to your new system when the time arrives. You at least will be able to run at higher res and AA that way now. Frame rates will likely not improve much however.

Side-grading a weak system (usually sticking a nice GPU in a hot, old, dusty, tired case) is never a great idea for an FSX rig, especially considering the Nvidia 6xx series cards are around the corner (and looking to be affordable). It just wouldn't make any sense grabbing up a PCIe 2.0 card and being stuck with weak processor and old tech when it's time to upgrade. In any other scenario, I usually do the same thing you suggested. Just not before a big release. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 30, 201214 yr A video card upgrade will do next to nothing for your rig.NONSENSE! No offence, but don't try to spread misinformation. I upgraded from a GT 320, which is exaclty the same as a GT 220, to a GTX 560Ti, and the peformance difference was MASSIVE, around 50% performance increase. Yes, FSX is 75% CPU dependant, but that doesn't mean that a good video card isn't gonna make a difference. Arjen Vandervelde
