April 12, 200422 yr I coughed up the money for the Galaxy membership with FSG, and considering the amount of stuff available there and the quality of it (gigabytes worth of great quality mesh and good support) I have no regrets.
April 12, 200422 yr I've been a customer of FSGenesis for several months, and I have been VERY happy with the products and the level of service Justin provides. His web site is great, the forums are full of knowledgable and helpful people, and his e-commerce system is the best I have dealt with from a commercial vendor. My purchased products and product updates are always available for download directly from the storefront. No obtuse copy protection. No hassles. I also like his pricing scheme, where it's easy to pick up LOTS of mesh very inexpensively. He also offers a great landclass file, which is the best I have tried.Even with all of the recent freeware mesh offerings, I will definately continue to support Justin.Someone mentioned the drawback of detailed mesh, which is that the default FS elevation data for airports and waterways isn't always accurate. This can result in airports on plateus and such. Sometimes this can be a bit of an immersion-killer, but the trade off is certainly worth it. I can't imagine flying over the Cascades without Justin's 38M mesh. At the same time, now that we are starting to see the entire world available in quality mesh, I would like to see a mesh developer (payware or freeware) who specializes in "cleaning up" particular geographic areas to ensure that airports, lakes and rivers and such appear as natural as possible on high-quality mesh. This would make the experience complete.Back to my point, though, FSGenesis products are highly recommended.

April 12, 200422 yr "I would like to see a mesh developer (payware or freeware) who specializes in "cleaning up" particular geographic areas to ensure that airports, lakes and rivers and such appear as natural as possible on high-quality mesh."I agree. It's a very big problem for me. Totally destroys the realism when you see rivers flowing up and down the sides of a valley instead of running inside it like you'd expect. Even lakes often have the wrong elevation which looks totally ridiculous."He also offers a great landclass file, which is the best I have tried."I have bought the Landclass and it's a great improvement over default - except maybe for bigger cities which actually look more sparse with his landclass than the default. But, overall I prefer his landclass to the default. -
April 12, 200422 yr HiI'd like to know if the FS Genesis mesh (West Coast) is compatible with the Mega Scenery software (California).I am contemplating the eventual purchase of Mega Scenery but would like a decent mesh to go with it.I am also quite confused when it comes to the choice of a mesh for the US West Coast - which one would be best in your opinion ? ( FS Genesis, John Wardle's Mesh, Raimond Taburet...??? - which one is the most accurate ? )Thanks in advance for your input Twister
April 12, 200422 yr Twister;I can talk just about the work i've done.If you use the usa 38.2 m terrain (at the moment the whole of the west coast is available - with the rest of usa to come next few weeks) i've done and uploaded onto freeware sites - quality is guaranteed.Files are cecked - one by one before uploading - it is designed with the latest usgs 30 m Ned data - and it works with any Megascenery for the usa - and eventually you can get the whole of the usa 38.2 m free -.Regarding support - if any problems - let me know - and I'll fix it - if you find any.Raimondo
April 12, 200422 yr I'm currently using Steve Greenwood's (FS Traveler) 30m mesh for the West Coast, and it works fine with Megascenery Socal. I haven't flown that much over Socal since I got the mesh so I haven't looked very closely at how the textures align, but there's nothing that stands out as being plain "wrong" with it. Provided texture placement in the Megascenery is reasonably accurate, any accurate mesh should align with the textures.Megascenery Norcal will include a 30m mesh, so when that is released, it's probably best to use the supplied mesh because it's probabbly tested to work perfectly with the Megascenery. -
