J41 Panel State

Featured Replies

I've been thinking about purchasing the Jetstream, and while I was reading a review, I found out that when you load a saved flight, the panel state loads but the FMC state doesn't. Is there any sort of work-around to this? It would seem that since modern aircraft depend so heavily upon the FMC, having the FMC state load would be essential to continuing a saved flight.

Thanks,

No. You can just reprogram the FMC. The only thing that I think the FMC on the J41 really controls is the lateral navigation. The J41 isn't an autothrottle aircraft like the Boeings or Airbuii.

How long does that take? I don't know much about the Jetstream's FMC (and as you hinted at, it's different from most).

  1. Load the route. To save time, save the route into your PMDG flight plans folder.
  2. Tell the FMC what waypoint you're starting at on the navigation page and after you press enter it will navigate from and to.
  3. Insert your fuel reserve (shouldn't change).
  4. Insert payload (this won't change).
  5. Insert cruise altitude (this won't change unless you want it to).

All in all, it shouldn't take more than two minutes. This FMS is much more lighter than a Boeing or Airbus FMS or whatever Airbus calls their FMS.

That's not too bad. And that won't cause any ill effects? Would you recommend the Jetstream overall?

-Bram Osterhout

No there shouldn't be any ill effects.

I think that the J41 is money well spent and I would recommend it to anyone.

However, there are things that you do need to keep in mind. The tutorial (that I think was written by Robert who has PIC hours in the J41) is a must read to learn the finer aspects of descending and operating the engines (which takes some patience). Read the manual (I recommend in parts and not all at once) and she'll get you from runway to runway without a problem.

Okay, thanks! I just purchased it and am anxiously waiting to fly it (well, once I actually learn how to fly it, that is).

Have fun starting the engines for the first time lol if you dont set fire to them at least 1 time your doing good.

Haha! Yes, I set fire to them twice and failed to get them started another few times. I found out that I had to unfeather the engines, which was not detailed in the tutorial flight or any video tutorials--I found it on the forums.

By the way, is there a way to load a cold-and-dark state?

I have a mental note of releasing the start locks if I fly without using the manual. I've probably cost myself a lot in engine changes.

There is no cold and dark panel state. This isn't as detailed as the 747/MD-11/737. Shut the aircraft down and save the flight with the FSX Save menu-option-thing.

By the way, when loading a saved flight, is there anything in particular you should do to let the systems reconfigured themselves? I ask because I loaded a flight and the NAV function wasn't working, it just set the plane level, but then when I loaded again, it worked.

yes there is a file that you can download and u can start from cold and dark but havnt found it yet, its in this forum some where some one has made a file that it starts from cold and dark. The other way is to get fscrew2 which is good to have than you never have engine fires lol
