April 10, 201214 yr Hi, Just a quick question. I presently have 4GB(2X2) of Gskill 1600 RAM at 9-9-9-24 1.5v. I'm about to receive this http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226295 Can I simply add those modules and let XMP do the rest? Or maybe 12GB is overkill. Thanks
April 10, 201214 yr This has been the biggest no-no in computer building since the dawn of time. It can be done but you might as well buy some stock in Tylenol while you're at it. ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
April 10, 201214 yr Totally agree with styckx. I think 12 GB is way too much for FSX. FSX uses about 4GB effectively on a 64 bit system. April 10, 201214 yr Always try to stick with the same memory kit when building PC's. 12GB also is WAY too much for FSX. I'd say that 6-8GB is 100% adequate for FSX and other programs.
April 10, 201214 yr Author Thanks guys. That's what U thought. Now I have to figure out why the same OC seems to run hotter.
