BlueSkyScenery and Autogen

Featured Replies

Hi, all.

I've been useing BlueSkyScenery's freeware for CA and NV for quite a while and it's a great enhacement for my FS, but it doesn't display any autogen (neither houses nor trees), which makes the scenery look "dead".

Is there any chance of getting autogen back to the scenery?

Thanks in advance for your replies

There is some autogen but not much outside the airports since it is 'photoreal', but you can add to it. I have mega scenery LAS on top of BS and it works perfectly

I also got US Cities LAs Vegas on top of BS, and that works very good as well, my problem is especially the lack of trees in regions like Yosemite, where actually should be forests and HOW to add autogen/trees to a photoscenery?

Perhaps the folks at FranceVFR will license out their autogen tech. Otherwise keep dreaming. Creating autogen for satellite/aerial textures is completely impractical without some sort of generation algorithm the developers can use (like what FranceVFR seems to have developed). Vector scenery (like Orbx FTX and the default scenery you see in FSX) has the advantage of being a (relatively) small set of unique tiles that can be mapped out for autogen and then re-used across a large region of area. For satellite/aerial imagery you're talking lots and lots more tiles (it's why this type of scenery takes up so much more storage space) that are all unique - which is to say each one would require its own custom autogen. That's an enormous workload. The best attempt to my knowledge for autogen on satellite textures prior to FranceVFR has been the MegaScenery Earth line of products, and IMO it's not even close to an improvement over the lack of autogen:

And this is with autogen turned up to max too. Ugh.

Means I have to live with a "bald" scenery, I guess :Hmmmph:.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

HOW to add autogen/trees to a photoscenery?

if you download fsx sdk, then just use 'annotator' to insert the autogen trees and building into your favorite areas, the process is painstaking though.
