PMDG 737-800 WL NGX Paint Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am having issues for a paint I was working on for a friend that owns the PMDG 737NGX and I attach 2 pictures the 1st on the aircraft and the second the paintkit, any ideas much appreciated as I see others have had no issue:

The issue I have is on the paintkit the chrome is perfectly straight but when in FSX the top part is curved Help !!

You're in that top section where the option satellite antenna area is. Anywhere from that point to the end of the tail (top area) will not draw is just like the paint template due to stretching and different sizing in the 3D model and that upper section. The top rear fuselage area is probably the most difficult area on the NGX to paint, especially when you're taking colored lines across it. It takes a lot of trial and error (painting it, loading it in FSX, and comparing).

You will never see it match the paint template exactly.

I thought I was doing something wrong, I think everytime I correct the curve I'm not going anywhere with it so he'll have to live with it unless another paint idea. Big%20Grin.gif

Thanks for your reply much appreciated.

You need more of a straight line across the top not pointed after you try it you will see what I mean, trial and error for sure.

I tried that but still the same problem.

I pass on repaints with a lot of lines or details in that area for that exact reason.

You know how Mercator projection maps tend to make the countries at the top and bottom look much larger than they look when projected onto a globe? It's sort of like that. A lot of pinching and warping takes place. You have to compensate on your paint kit for the warping of the texture that will occur on the 3D model. I find the bottom of the tail and bottom of the nose to be particularly challenging. I've all but abandoned Southwest Lone Star One for now because of an area of distortion right where the star goes over the top.
