April 19, 201214 yr Hello folks, Thought I have install and transfer of SimObjects down pat with several aircraft installed and all working well. I installed the Lionheart Kodiak Quest - The installer let me point to the P3D folder for install. All went well. I also checked the .xml files in fsx to make sure I hadn't missed anything, as well as fonts, guages, sounds etc. All were well. Here's my problem...............when I go to choose the Kodiak, the Kodiak is there, however there are NO thumbnails, just the Prepar3D Logo...........I have looked back at FSX and all is in the same place in the Sim Objects as is in the P3D Sim Objects Folder... .The show up fine in FSX when choosing the aircraft and liveries. Please tell me what I need to do to show the thumbnails in Aircraft Selection. Know I'm missing something here. Thanks so much and have a blessed day. cthiggin Tom Higginbotham - Montgomery, AL, USA
April 19, 201214 yr In prepar3d you have to have each thumbnail in the texture folder for the aircraft. So you probably have some jpegs thumbnails in the main aircraft folder, you'll have to move them to each texture folder and rename them thumbnail.jpg (or whatever the file is called in other aircraft).
April 19, 201214 yr Author Hello PingPong, Checked that in each texture folder against what the aircraft.cfg says and it matched. Mine are named for instance "yellowfloatpod.jpg", the same as the aircraft.cfg is calling for...and they're still not showing up in "Select Aircraft"............any more ideas? Thanks so much. cthiggin Tom Higginbotham - Montgomery, AL, USA
April 19, 201214 yr If I am not mistaken you will have to rename them to thumbnail.jpg in each of the appropriate texture folders. That line is ignored in the P3D version of the aircraft.cfg file. Once you move them and rename jpg they will show up. Russ
April 19, 201214 yr Here: from the man himself: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?65116-Thumbnails-in-P3D-heads-up "Hey all, If you do repaints or are a dev and creating installers for P3D, note that you 'must' place your thumbnails in their appropriate texture folder. I am one of the people that create thumbnails that have N-numbers in their names and place the thumbnails together in the main aircraft folder of that plane. This does not work in P3D. So you know now. Bill"
April 19, 201214 yr Author PingPong, You're so right - changed them to "thumbnail.jpg" and they showed up. With the Kodiak, some of the texture folders require two .jpg's for "a passenger version" & "a passenger pod version" - so I will lose some liveries........but it's still better than having none show up. Thanks so very much for you're help and information. cthiggin Tom Higginbotham - Montgomery, AL, USA
