Thinking of upgrading to SSD

Featured Replies

What audio issue? Not that I know of...

Basically, if you were 100 feet up on approach in the NGX, the sim would pause for like 1 second as the 100foot WAV callout file is loaded into the sim.

I intend to have an SSD because the fast loading time is a necessaity for me. I am surprised how this is not a requriement for many folks. I get in and out of FSX so many times...right now, when I start FSX, on the account of so many addons that I have , I got do something else and then come back to my PC because it takes for ever and ever to load FSX. (I have a Dog of a PC...but thats a different story). Sometimes I forget that I have started the FSX even. Tsk Tsk! So it would be nice to be in a situation where I start FSX and sit there and start flying without having to leave.

About the issue of space for addons... I have split my scenery addons into two sets..one for airport scenery etc thats not too big stays with the FSX Folder/Drive and then there are the large Megascenery types...that I move to another disk. So even with SSDs, these Mega scenery for the entire state of Califonia or Utah etc... would still reside in 1/2TB disks leaving the SSDs only for the main FSX and airport scenery. This way, when I am not flying in the Utah or Califronia, the FSX would load faster from the SSD. Not sure if by spliiting the addons to a regular drive it defeats the purpose of having an SSD.
