April 30, 201214 yr Hey all, I noticed REX seems to have a weather engine option - I know that ASE 2012 is currently the benchmark in weather and that FSX's is terrible - is REX much better than the default FSX? I will buy ASE eventually but if REX is decent I'll enable it. Thanks
April 30, 201214 yr I preferred the default FSX engine over REX. Visually it wasn't great (better with REX textures), but he upper winds with the default engine were actually in line with the AWC and Nav Canada; So i could plan my flight off of real world data. Now I use AS2012. Jim Shield Cybersecurity Specialist
April 30, 201214 yr The new Rex Essentials free upgrade coming out soon has much a much improved weather engine. It includes Winds Aloft too. There's a load of info and pics on their forum...
April 30, 201214 yr I actually splashed out and bought AS2012 as I didn't feel like waiting for Essential to come out. I'm using REX's textures and AS2012 weather engine. My problems are entirely gone and I actually think AS2012 cloud layering and the engine as a whole is far superior to REX. Jacek G.
