May 1, 201214 yr I'm finding something unexpected with the CDU HOLD page. For example, flying the Tutorial #2 flight, pressing HOLD shows availability of a hold at RTTNB. I am expecting to be offered an EXEC light, to put that hold into the active plan in advance of arrival, but the EXEC light is not there. Is my expectation not correct? Maybe the availability of the hold is only for the missed approach, but then the tutorial filight plan does route via RTT on initial approach too. Also, when trying to copy other down-flight waypoints in as other holds, I click on the waypoint in the LEGS page and the scratchpad copy shows up okay, but when I then click to enter the copied waypoint into the bottom LSK boxes to set up its hold, it won't copy in. In fact, the only hold I seem to be able to execute is PPOS, by opening the HOLD page, then going right away to Next Hold>PPOS. Am I missing something here? Only add-on loaded is FS2Crew Voice. Any guidance or corroboration would be much appreciated. Vol 2 of the Manual at 11.43.XX hasn't really helped ... Many thanks. David David Abrahams
May 1, 201214 yr Hi David, Is this by any chance a saved flight? I have all sortes of issues with the CDU after loading after loading a flight such as not being able to engage VNAV etc? Ceri
May 1, 201214 yr Author Hi Ceri, Yes, it is a saved flight: the top of descent one for NGX Tutorial #2 that you find when you click Load under Free Flight. Best wishes, David David Abrahams
May 1, 201214 yr Just jumped in and loaded that flight. No problems here... With the flight loaded go to HOLD page then LSK 6L (NEXT HOLD) then press NEXT PAGE until you see RTTNB (the one being part of approach not G/A) downselect it to s/p then upselect it to the boxes at the bottom. The Exec light should illuminate... I'm sure you can take it from there. Just verify the hold appears on the ND. -- Jan Kowalski
May 1, 201214 yr Author Understood. But then what is the purpose of the "preloaded" RTTNB hold detail you see when you first press HOLD, before clicking on to Next Hold as you correctly describe it?? Anyone? David David Abrahams
May 1, 201214 yr As you noticed this hold is a part of a G/A segment. During preflight once you go to DEP ARR page and select the LLZ 26 approach this hold is a part of it automatically gets activated on the HOLD page. -- Jan Kowalski
May 1, 201214 yr Author Ah-ha! That sounds reasonable to me. Will check it out. Many thanks. David David Abrahams
May 1, 201214 yr Author Just flew an otherwise perfect route LSGGLFMN, with Neras as both inbound and GA hold fix on the charts: its details showed up on page 1 of the CDU's HOLD screen okay - but nothing to activate it with right there as you suggest. Would have to re-enter the fix identifier as a Next Hold. Still a bit unclear. Must still be a problem on my side? Best wishes, David David Abrahams
May 1, 201214 yr Ok, let's go thru this step by step. When you select the approach and activate the route then go to the HOLD page does it have a magenta ACT in the title ? -- Jan Kowalski
May 1, 201214 yr Author Thanks. Sadly no time to fly again this domestic evening. Back soon as poss with an answer to your helpful (and patient!) question. Best wishes, David David Abrahams
May 2, 201214 yr Author Think I get it now: yes, the immediately visible hold fix detail IS showing ACT in magenta! This must mean, I guess, that it has automatically been activated as part of the GA procedure, right? Stands to reason, then, that you wouldn't need to activate it a second time ... So you've kindly resolved my confusion (I think!). Thanks again. Best wishes, David David Abrahams
May 2, 201214 yr If you have entered an approach, then its missed approach hold will be the first hold in the HOLD page. If you want to hold somewhere else before the approach, then you would need to go to the NEXT HOLD. Matt Cee
May 2, 201214 yr Author Thanks. Fully comprehended now! Appreciate your further clarification. David David Abrahams
