Hi Guys, yes, I guess its a question of YMMV for many people. But it does certainly give better texture loading for me, with no discernible side effects. Hope it helps someone.

Re the ******* tool, and not wanting to drag anyone into a "my tweaks are better than his" scenario, as a knowledgeable guy on the effects of these various entries, why do you think he included them if they are currently taken to be ineffective? Everyone was raving about them at the time, yet both yourself and NickN say that his tools does not work properly and adds many useless entries. Surely there must have been testing and investigation?

I am saying that Bojotes tweaks worked much better on my old machine than my SB system. Word Not Allowed's settings are specifically designed for OC'ed SB CPUs.

Hold on there Ben. At no point have I said Bojote' tweaks are bad. I offer an alternative to that, which is based on my system.

The fact is, some people are still running better with older tweaks. So be it.

I am assured that my tweaks run very well on my system and as it'a actually visible, many profit from them.

I never said that Bojote's Tweaks ran poorly on OTHER systems. I simply stated that on my older machine, the Bojote tweaks were much more effective than on my 5GHZ SB setup.

I found Bujotes works better with anything less than a 580 video card. Kostas work well with my 580 but wasnt that great with the 570 I was running. That wasn't scientific just a visual observation. So all are good! :)

Shoot me down in flames as well, but if I enable DX10, all other things being equal, I get at least a 3 fold increase in frame rate and smoothness with my 2 GTX580's in SLI. And only some very minor glitches, such as the occasional flash on scenery. So I am running DX10 at the moment. I know the perceived wisdom is otherwise, but when I compare the performance, it's just a no brainer for me.

Out of interest and just as some kind of yardstick, I used the FSXMark11 saved flight as it looks pretty demanding on CPU & GPU and can achieve a silky smooth, rock solid 30FPS using the in game FPS limiter, at 2560 x 1600.

I hope these observations help someone, as I know it can be a complete minefield getting your own particular combination of hardware and software working together properly.

So I am running DX10 at the moment.

There is a fix on the REX forum for the flashing taxiways.
