Hawaii Gold Rush Challenges

Featured Replies

Hello.

I have really enjoyed doing The Hawaii Gold Rush Challenges using the Icon-A5 in as many ways/paths as possible, think the paths I have chosen are worthwhile; although I’m sure there must be better "routes" and perhaps you have already found them. Anyway I’ve spent quite a lot of time and experienced countless crashes, so this are my best personal records and will give it a rest for now.

Just got Fraps and want to share these videos with you.

I hope you enjoy them.

Note: All aircraft flight control assistances are disabled and graphics settings are high or max, except shadow which is set to med

(settings shown on videos). I use a Logitech Attack 3 joystick and Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Ramón, I am just not good at this but with your videos and chosen paths (plus the great tip about fuel!) I am going back for the Gold!

Best regards.

Luis

May I add my sincere gratitude for your advice, Ramón. These "coins" represent the last GFWL points to which I aspire and your post now becomes my flight plan. After many crashes, I spent time last night in aerial reconnaissance of these courses, snagging screen shots, the better to map out a workable strategy. You just did my thinking for me. Additionally, it appears I've been flying the wrong coin catcher aircraft (apparently).

Thanks for watching the videos guys, and I sincerely hope you beat those times.

I know it’s possible because previously I achieved better times a couple times (1-3 seconds), but they were not recorded so they don’t count .(Hint: Make tighter/better turns)

Luis: Yes, the fuel level/weight seems to cause great performance impact, I’m using 3-4% max.

Fred: It’s my pleasure, please post other paths/routes/turns when you find them.

Robert: If you are using the RV-6A, that’s even better, you can save up to 14 more seconds on the Wind Farm (past experience). But since that aircraft is faster you have to take care when turning and that plane tends to stall.

Right now the Icon is at the FBO and my pilot ego is severely wounded after some 100 150+ crashes, but later on, I will remake them using the RV-6A and see how I do.
