Samdim releases AN-24 Version 3!

Featured Replies

As I was browsing trough Avsimrus, I noticed Samdim released their entirely new (apart from the gauges) An-24 family yesterday!

Manual and instructions are in Russian only, but as the Gauges haven't changed I assume the manual for V2 can be used to get this girl going.

enjoy, and grab her while she's hot! (hope these links are allowed)

hopefully whe'll see the An-32 in a short time as well.

In related news, I came across a new IL-76 uploaded about 3 week ago.

external model + FDE only, apparently build for Twister's IL-76 panel.

Enjoy!

The original manual should be enough:

I think there are no VCs with the new models but I'm very happy to see new Samdim An-24 family aircraft non-the-less! Can't wait to try them out.

Hope Dimitri will upload them with us in the AVSIM library as well  - I'll be very happy to see them available from here too.

The situation with the An-24 family is quite peculiar.

We released an FS9 version because we realized that otherwise this package will never be released. We've been waiting for a good VC to fall from the skies, but it didn't happen. So we decided that a bare but new external model is better than nothing at all - and made this package.

It is aimed at public already familiar with this plane. Generally this kind of public are very hardcore simmers who often don't care much about virtual cockpits (we made a poll). Moreover, this public is mostly Russian-speaking. This is why I didn't upload the FS9 package to avsim.com.

However, I understand that what most people really need is an FSX version with a full virtual cockpit. There are at least two completely new panels (more advanced than the actual ones) in construction, with new instruments developed from scratch and portable to FSX. These panels will provide access to their variables via XML, so it will be possible to animate properly any switch and gauge in a future VC. That said, I don't plan making a new cockpit for the An-24 family. I hope it will be made by someone else, I will be happy to integrate it to my model. As for us, Nikolai (INS) and I, we will shortly start porting FS9 models to FSX - with more advanced materials, textures and animations. Another advantage of FSX is that the VC can be added at any time, even if the exterior model is already released.

This future FSX version will be uploaded to avsim.com

Dmitry - what we really need is a great FS9 version without a VC ;-)

Thanks for all your excellent work over the years :-)

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Count me out....what I really need is an updated version of your lovely IL-96 for FS9 without a VC. :Nerd:

Thankyou very much for the lovely An-24 family.
