Miami City 2012 has arrived in FSX

I see. Then I've misunderstood the statement of yours. Sorry for that, Bray. Me says that the default scenery is a fps hog at Miami, so you may even see an improvement with the DD version. The idea on the demo is a good one, maybe it helps to see if it really improves things.

Now I ran the DD KMIA version and disabled the Latin VFR one, which gave me very nice framerates (no impact at all), but lesser airport detail of course. However, at least the daylight pictures are nice. But check for yourself.

The night lighting is subtle, the best parts are coming from the altered ground images for me, while the buildings itself are less impressive. Personal preference I guess.

As said, night and day framerates with the DD KMIA are great. Running Latin VFR's KMIA rendition then gives you an impact. Still a nice airport though.

As a comparison, here's Latin VFR's KMIA, which is definitely slower on the fps but more detailed and lit. They've also used a ground image with green grass.

Be aware that all the night shots may come in very dark for you if you are used to the normal FSX 'bright nights'. I'm using ENB, so please keep that in mind.

Conclusion is that one may get a very nice and large Miami area at daytime, with only a few errors (in my eyes) on the actual tree placement. The nights look great since I can take that 'fake' ground image for real. It gives you a nice impression of a big lit city at now fps cost. But PingPong pointed out the obviously missing lights on the downtown buildings, which is a point I fully agree to.

Maybe DD adds that lighting on those buildings, which would render the scenery perfect for me, already being great and very reasonable priced. For daytime IFR and VFR, it's a winner.

Thanks for the screenshots. I think LatinVFR's KMIA looks much better than DD's "lite" KMIA. But I'm afraid the very bright (white) LatinVFR surrounding textures, I've seen on screenshots, do not blend perfectly within the nice DD-Miami textures. Or what do you think?

Good point. Yeah, I think you will be able to spot the difference on the colour tone and also on the grass being used at Latin VFR's rendition. Lets check with looking down on it. Seasonal difference I'd say. The alignment is perfect.

I can see that Latin VFR has named their scenery files photoxx.bgl and things, so there should be a way to disable just the ground image from them and use the one from DD instead. That's a whopping 850mb bgl file by the way. Here's a picture on trying that.

Looks good to me, I think I'll keep it. That's with disabling all the photo elements in the Latin VFR folder.

Edited. On the buildings, one can't change much of course, but I must admit that I didn't get an extremely awkward impression on the possible differences so far. Here's a picture from slewing around and with the Latin VFR ground image disabled.

Thanks again for this comparison. It looks good.

Thanks CoolP . I also wrote them about the demo and got this reply if anyone else is interested

There are no ground textures in the demo and only a few buildings in the Downtown. Also all the textures are lower resolution and only 4 airports are included.

When installing the full version, the demo version will be automatically deactivated. There is no need for you to do anything else

I see, then a fps test may be difficult. Thanks for the information on the demo limitations.

Maybe some vendor offers money back on the full version. But me says that, if you leave the Latin VFR KMIA out, the performance is very good.
