May 21, 201214 yr http://www.drzewieck...odMIA2012_X.htm Seems like another nice one from Drzewiecki Design. The screenshots look great and the area may also offer something to go low and slow for a while. Thinking about combining it with Latin VFR's KMIA. There's a demo available. Miami City 2012 is compatible with Ultimate Terrain X and LatinVFR’s KMIA Miami International Airport. To me, the price looks right. What do you guys think? And what do the locals say? Does it look like your city?
May 21, 201214 yr Thanks for the HU. Scenery looks great. The price is nice too! I don't fly in that region but this scenery may change my mind. There's Newport photoscenery of Key West I was thinking of getting too. Glad scenery developers are giving this area more attention. Best regards, Jim
May 21, 201214 yr I did my PPL in Miami and I bought the scenery the second it was released, it's very nice, the autogen and phototextures work well together. BUT only some of the downtown buildings have night textures, all of the phototiles have night textures. I emailed the people there, and they said this was a result of how they acquired the assets to do the scenery. I am not sure if a fix is planned. Still for those wanting to do Day flying over Miami it's the best(and only) game in town.
May 21, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the information, PingPong. I've just bought it and may do some tours in that area. Expect me to keep the city busy with that Extra 300 I've got the other day. B) Over 1gb on the download, so this is a heavy.
May 21, 201214 yr Is fly tampa planning to upgrate their Miami airport for FSX? Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 21, 201214 yr I don't think so, there's latin VFR Miami International, and this scenery has a "lite" upgrade for KMIA, KOPF, and KTMB. I haven't really explored the area to know what that means, but it's probably better than default.
May 21, 201214 yr Author The tweaked default KMIA looks nice on the screenshots. Very nice actually, e.g. on the shape of some buildings. Running Latin VFR's KMIA rendition doesn't hurt though. I'd even say that the DD scenery enhances the surroundings a lot on the texture side. That skyline looks great. The overall colour impression on the city is grey-ish but getting closer offers some more detail. True on the downside at night/dusk, only few buildings are lit. The ground textures enable some 'lights' though. The framerates with that very light plane never were a concern while exploring and with running the rather heavy KMIA in the background. Thanks to some tip, I've found a few trees standing where they shouldn't. Me says that's a nice addition to the Florida area and especially when looking at the price. I can't speak for other people's preferences, but I'm happy and would only wish for some nicer lit buildings. Here are some more shots from a mad pilot. Screenshots are done with REX, ENB, Shade. So the default FSX may come in brighter at dusk.
May 22, 201214 yr Thanx for the tip CoolP! So its out! The screenies are awesome! This is a must buy for me....did my flight training in those parts for 1.5 years...this will bring back some good memories :spiteful: Kind regardsR.G
May 22, 201214 yr Author Thanks, Robert. I wonder if it's realistic to run my precious Dimona around Miami. That Extra was a lot of fun, but too easy with all that power. Running the Dimona in engine off mode may be more challenging and of course allows for some great views.
May 22, 201214 yr Author I've added some more screenshots. This time I've tried my luck without an engine, on a hot day in July (I guess all July days are hot in Miami). I went from the lower South, namely KTMB airport, up to the North to end at KOPF. Both airports are included on a basic level. The canopy tones down the brightness, so take the external shots as a reference if you like. All screens were made with REX, ENB and Shade. Around KTMB. That's close to KOPF. Catching some thermal around Miami Beach. Don't mind the green pointers, those are my cheating on not knowing where to go. Right after landing, the rain set in, so I was just in time.
May 22, 201214 yr @CoolP Nice shots so far. Is it possible to get some closer shots of KMIA (day and night)? I'm very interested in the level of detail of the "Lite" version. Thanks, Patric
May 22, 201214 yr I live in Miami and the scenries are pretty accurate. The price is certainly right but i have to wonder about frame rates on my old Q6600...soon upgrade :-) Any thoughts appreciated Maybe I will try the demo as well although they did not say what restrictions or ommissions come with the demo Bill
May 22, 201214 yr Author Is it possible to get some closer shots of KMIA (day and night)? I'm very interested in the level of detail of the "Lite" version. Shouldn't be a problem. I'll disable Latin VFR's and enable the KMIA version from DD. Will do some screenshots later. The price is certainly right but i have to wonder about frame rates on my old Q6600...soon upgrade :-) Any thoughts appreciated The only framerate drop I saw happened at the KMIA airport from Latin VFR, which isn't extremely heavy on the fps, but also a bit away from being light. So the DD parts of Miami come in very fps friendly, at least with the lighter planes I've used so far. I will test how the DD rendition of KMIA alters that impression.
